  1. Well, yes, except I'm not sure TeamSpeak has the potential that I'm looking for. The audio quality is just not good enough to be somewhere folks want to hang out a lot, in my opinion. Ventrilo is probably best. Also, we'd somehow need to establish the feeling that everyone is welcome and wanted there, probably with the help of the veterans and clans.

Hey, this sounds great, Leesy! I hope it can get some up and coming Nolfers interested.

Two things we should be pushing for is:

    1. A community voice chat server, open for everyone. It's a great way of socializing and if we can get clannies and non-clannies, new and old players hanging out together, it would certainly bring Nolfers closer together!

    2. The established clans (SFI, NS, FF5) should really be the ones asking new and smaller clans like DK for clan matches. They probably have enough on their plate gathering the troops and getting to know the game, and I'm sure they'd appreciate some initiative from the oldtimers. :)

  3. Danny-boy, this is silly. To the best of my knowledge you don't have any good reasons to hate anyone in SFI, you're just putting on a big rebellious front hoping it'll somehow make you look like this guy: IPB Image

So let me speak a bit of truth to you, as your friend. You are not James Dean. It's okay to be okay with other people and be cool without ragging on them. It's okay, poop monkey. You're okay. We could all be getting along swimmingly if you (and some others) would in fact let us.

Now in the spirit of friendship and fun things, allow me to post a couple of cat photos (which have nothing to do with this, but that are very cute):

    I rest my case. :)

  4. people move on

    people get banned

    clans die

WR vs BN = best match ever

cant say your a hardcore nolfer if you werent in that match

tried to start bn up again recently but it doesnt help when the ex leader gets banned even after he changed his ip

anyone who had me as a clan leader has respect for me and will forever you can ask any of nc members

    btw WR > all

i had no heros on my team

Oh yeah Sly, Copernicus called. Apparently, you're not the centre of the universe after all! ;)

  5. bs!

Well actually I think you're right there, metal. Bs!

The 1.4 update would ensure that no one had to be all worried about being up against cheaters. If someone's good in a 1.4 server, then they're just good, end of story. THAT effect we will never have in today's servers or even in the servers fixed with Dan's mod. And with the suspicion and lack of trust present among Nolfers, we need that kind of guarantee, in my opinion. So then I guess we'll just have to accept that a few not-so-steadfast recruits and oldtimers don't bother getting 1.4. I'll manage, at least. B)

  6. Leaning.. is just like ending the doomsday device.. its often annoying but also a part of the game imho!

Finally you can overdo both.. if you end the device after 5mins or lean 20mins .. no big difference!

What i want to say is .. dont try to set up more silly rules as "you must end" or "you mustnt lean".. just make sure the teams are fair and then just fight!

And finally you have to choose yourself how you play!

Well, sure, if it's wildly unfair, no point in finishing. But it's the rare occasion that teams are 100% balanced - and when they are, it's the rare occasion that someone actually gets to finish. If we could only finish the DD Device when it was compleeeetely even we would have these stagnated, boring, completely uninteresting games 9 out of 10 games.

o back to your roots if you need to but dont wonder when people arent too happy about you ending the darn map that fast or say negative things

I do wonder how they have the energy to make snippy remarks and call me nasty things every time, and I ain't stopping. Seriously! If you're so upset, next time just shoot me and stop me. Whining rarely helped anybody.

  7. Being up against a good leaner is indeed frustrating because so often you're chanceless, but why on earth would that be a "lesser" way of playing? It's an advantage you can take, just like phos in your AK or outflanking someone.

As for perspective for the newcomer, well, Sugly has been around the block that is Nolf2 a few times by now. I'm sure he appreciates perspective as much as the next guy, but honestly, this:

i hate to burst your bubble, but its not only people in sfi that mock you for your lame tactics.

is not the form of offering perspective. This is the form of mockery and abuse, and I resent it.

Nixsa and DiscoMime, you guys would do well to take that last remark to heart, too.

  8. Well, joy to the world. I guess msn will be working in no time, now :P

Anywhooo, miss you too spacka. :( Hope this will fix itself soon!

Oh so thats why i ain't seen you!

    Miss you already :'(

But yeah, try again laterz. MSN is just spacko!

By golly this was helpful! -_-

  9. Well, indeed it is a small community, and our troops would probably not stretch to cover a TDM server.

On a side note, I don't really have a problem with others hanging on to the pieces until the bitter end. You won't catch me calling people names or pouting like a child that someone's waiting the game out. I really wish that favour was given to me in return.

  10. Yo! My MSN Messenger won't sign me in. I've tried two different accounts and two different program versions (plus two html based ones) with no luck, I've seen to it that nothing is wrong with my internet connection, and I've run the usual spy- and adware and virus checks with no significant results. When troubleshooting the Messenger it says that my default gateway is prolly disconnected, which, needless to say, is nonsense. The MSN service status for the service reports no problems and hasn't changed that point of view at any point while I've had this problem (now about 24 hours).

It's annoying! I feel very disconnected. (Except from my family and friends in town, not to mention that I can always meet folks in Nolf, but still!) Any ideas, tech geniuses?

  11. Well, if there were more than just a handful of us really playing for the pieces, then we probably wouldn't be able to finish all the time. I mean, for heaven's sake, if I'm running away with the final piece, everyone should be charging straight towards me! Often I can just walk away.

Like it or not, DoomsDay is a game where the point is to assemble three pieces of a DoomsDay device. I love those 20-minute frag fests where no one is able to get their hands on all pieces, and I think we'd have a lot more of them if folks played the game for real. I mean, where's the nerve in a game where some spacko is gonna hold on to the last piece until 20 minutes no matter which team is winning?

No. Each map has its own life depending on who's playing, how the teams are, the mood in the server, which map is on, lag and ping issues, tactics, all these things. As a rule I refuse to pretend that I didn't just steal the piece and win the map, and if anyone wants to do things otherwise, that's on their head. But I do wish we could all agree to play DD the old-fashioned way - I think that would bring much fun and nerve to the leisure play.

  12. Well, now that I have watched the video, let me say that that was no way to behave on Killergirl's part. No argument there. Broke the rules, acted poorly, you name it. I'm really sorry you were treated that way, Sly. In fact, no one should be harassed like that in the server.

Still, I don't want to leave out the fact that you could have done any of a hundred things to defuse the situation, but chose not to. You could've spoken back with reason, humour or even understanding, and in stead you ignored everyone in the server, doing nothing to ease the clear and understandable frustration of a handful of rather new Nolfers. You really don't deserve a 'Hero' badge any more than anyone else in this case, but hey, you didn't break any rules. Good boy! :P

Finally, well, most of us around here have done something stupid once or twice, and luckily everyone usually moves on and forgives and forgets that kind of thing. I'd suggest we do the same in this case.

  13. Did you wish to humiliate someone, slyly attack a clan's reputation, show that chatters die easy or prove for a fact that you have poor sportsmanship? You succeeded on all those points. Bravo.

"Sly"-ly... Way to pun, Bells! :P But seriously, I haven't seen the video yet. I might have to now. But from where I'm standing, the real humiliation here sits with the person insecure enough to flaunt an entire video somehow supposed to prove his worth and coolness measured in Nolfing skills. (No names mentioned, of course)

  14. Yay! Was a close call with Guru's 114, but yay nevertheless. Nice of you to notice, Bloo. :)

I too had fun! Sure hope we can do something like this again (Americans vs Europeans comes to mind)! We used to do fun matches like this back in ST and it's all good memories. :D
