Here in Ireland, Irish culture and Irish identity is very much linked to the GAA and its sports. In fact, the movement for Irish independence has its roots there. Some typical Irish sport are Hurling and Gaelic Football (I keep getting the urge to shout 'Handball!').

Back in Holland, the people with the most outspoken cultural identity and their own sports are the Frisians. Speed skating, while popular in the whole of Holland, has its most fanatical followers there. They also have some unique sports of their own, like fierljeppen or kaatsen.

So what kind of sport do they have where you live?

    Cultural Wealth

    By [TNT] Sonic Goo,

I went to Dublin Castle recently and before entering one of the rooms, we were warned that we weren't allowed to use flashlight and things like that because there was a very important painting there. So I was expecting something really great. As it turned out, it was a Van Dijck. This looked a bit strange to me, since he's not one of the most famous painters around. But this is typical of Ireland. There just isn't that much there.

I'm used to living a few minutes from some great Dalis and Magrittes, half an hour from most important Mondriaans and an hour from most Dutch masters, lots of Van Goghs, etc.. Ireland just doesn't have that kind of thing.

The same goes for architecture. Most of the buildings considered interesting around here are of the bland, neoclassical variety. (If I see one more triangle with columns underneath I'm gonna kick it.) Or just some random mishmash of styles. In comparison, the city center of Amsterdam has it's own style and has completely been declared a national monument.

I think it may have something to do with the fact that Ireland has been very poor for a very long time, while Holland was a global power once.

Anyway, I thought it might be interesting if everyone posted something about the cultural treasures where they live.

    Installing NOLF2 mappack 2 on non-english versions

    Genesis
    By Genesis,

Hi there! Many people who bought a "foreign" version of NOLF2 (non-English) have experienced issues while trying to install the official mappack 2. Here's how to do it in a few simple steps.

    1) All you need to do is download the official 1.3 update and both mappacks right here in check the download section. Install update 1.3 and mappack 1 first, but not the mappack 2 - at least yet.

    2) Click "Start" and then "Launch" or "Run", I don't remember exactly (I'm French, sorry! ;) ) then, in the small command line, type "regedit" and hit enter.

    3) This will open the registration keys editor.

    4) As you will see, there are folders on the left, and the keys will appear on the right. Browse folders as follows:

    HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Monolith Productions/No One Lives Forever 2/1.0

    5) On the right, look for the key that's called "Net_Region_Code" (highlighted in the picture above) and double-click it. This will pop-up a new window.

    6) The value represents your current language setting. Here, it's "FR" for French, it would be "IT" for Italian, etc. Change the current value to "EN" for English. Don't forget to note the original value before changing it!

    ...And click OK.

    7) Exit regedit, and install your mappack 2. Yes, it works!

    8) Now, before running your game, repeat steps 1 to 6 but replace "EN" by the original setting...

    Done! B)
