Nice find ! Any chance to add the Cate thief model from modernizer REZ file ? It might be possible to bring animation to it ?

MULTI HERO_THIEF_MULTI.ABC -> multiplayer model

Let‘s see if we can get the hero_thief model into the menu.

After my vacation i will have a look into it or you try to get to work on your own. With the modernizer mod you need to change the Layoutnew.txt file if i remember correctly.

I did it, the result is so-so, StandHip animation has no loop, it’s choppy.

Awesome ! 🤩 🥳

Please let me know when you make it available !

Did you make work the ps2 thief head and original NOLF1 Cate head ?

Do you think you would be able to make also a first person view choice with thiefhands_pv.dtx ?

Maybe Akven would be able to upscale the PS2 textures like he did on ModDB with his ESRGAN Upscale Pack (and Vanilla Game Menu).

I replaced normal Cate, casual and winter cate with hero thief model since i don‘t know when they appear.

Now that i have all animations for the thief model available i will pick a looping one.

I‘m working on the dart pen, safecracker ps2 and lockpick ps2 too. Maybe in the future. Thief hands will be part of this.

yes i did! https://fastupload.io/b30ea7e1f8756a50
https://fastupload.io/216bc25b15727f0f

here you have the thief_model with it's complete animations, use the ModelEdit of AVP2 tools to view them.

If you like to have another animation, find out which base file it carries, import the base file and delete all except for the one you want.

Safe the model as inthero_thief in the rez file (chars/models), replace the older.

Use Winrez to open rez files.

place the modernizer.rez in Nolf1/custom folder and load it with the nolf loader at start.

I managed to launch the game in XP Servie Pack 2 with the modernizer file you provided. The eyebrows have some glitches, Cate have a giraffe neck and some part of the model are also distorded. The character doesn't seem's to have the first anim you put in the .ABC thief model file.

I‘m sad about your discoveries. Have you opened the model ( hero_thief) in Modeledit?

Does it have the same issues in the viewer? Yes it has the same problems.

I see no way to fix this.

It will not work

I don't have the same problem on the editor and the standhip selected in model editor doesn't appear or trigger in the main menu.

Maybe it's a problem with my drivers ?

You have to leave one animation in the model and name it inthero_thief, overwrite itin the rez go to chars, models.

import animations from any model or the proximate *base* abcs, delete the rest anims.

maybe the distortions are a „weight“ problem.

You didn't have this issue don't you ?

MainMenu.jpg

The arms or that she looked away? Had both.

i tried several animations and stick with the lean one.

it seems to be caused by the general_base.abc animations

Something buggy with eyebrows a grey zone like collision appears, the strange arms and the giraffe neck 😂

The ps2 model has no separate eyebrows as standalone parts, maybe this causes problems

I don't know if it could help for porting PS2 levels to PC, but just in case...

"Haha yea, it was compiling pretty okay earlier, I guess the area I re-did maybe pushed it over a little bit. I'll have to go split some meshes up. Dedit 2.2 requires any files imported to have lowercase extensions, which is a pain with NOLF's prefabs. So I wrote a script to lowercase them all and then convert them to LTA.

In case anyone needs 'em

nolf_lta_prefabs.7z 231.22 KB (in attachement).

and also :

Lithtech DAT Reader 0.2.4 on spawnsite

A new .dat file reader
This is the compiled level files in the lithtech games.
Normally you cannot edit these files unless you have the .ed source file but with this tool you can view them and learn how the map was made.

Apart from the Nine Year Ago levels, do you have a list of areas and cutscenes that are exclusive to the PS2 version ?

I saw that the "PS2 version of A Man of Influence Scene 3 (which is Scene 5 in that version) has a secret underground shooting area, and the pen dart weapon that was added."

"In the PS2 version, Baron Dumas' residence features an extra hidden room on the left side, accessible by distracting the guard dog and lockpicking the door leading to the elevator. Archer will come across some storage room, a safari shooting range (With a Sportsman EX Crossbow nearby) and a normal shooting range (with a Braun 9mm Parabellum nearby). Taking the last elevator will bring her back to the main lobby, coming out of the large statue."

"There's also a secret room beneath Baron Dumas' villa, when you go to the right behind the hedges in the courtyard. There's another dog in a kennel where you can use your robo-poodle to get past. In the basement, there's a hunting/shooting range with targets and cages.

And of course the '9 Years Ago' flashback levels, with 3 scenes in which Cate snatches purses, cracks safes in a pub and steals a diamond in a castle."

Those are the same thing. When facing the villa, there's no opening on the left side, only on the right side which has the dog and locked door, which leads to the basement with the storage and shooting areas.

It's just the 3 Nine Years Ago levels and the expanded Baron Dumas' Villa level with the secret basement, along with the cutscenes in them. There's the pen dart weapon in Man of Influence but the Crossbow has more utility and is better overall. Along with the lock picking tools and safecracker gagdets in the Nine Years Ago levels, which are just reskins of the barrette's lockpick mode and code breaker respectively.

Other than that some levels have some minor differences, but most significantly in Man of Influence Scene 1. Other than the new pen dart weapon, the women's restroom where the receptionist ran off to is unlocked and you can enter it in the PS2 version, but it exists in the PC version and you can clip through a wall to get into it. The office glass is see-through and some has been added in place of walls. which includes a new opening to one of the offices. A woman was moved probably so you could sneak by more easily, and a security camera was removed in both scene 1 and scene 2.
