It's that time of the year again - what were your favourite whatevers of the year? Here's mine:

Music:

Arcade Fire - Funeral

There's a lot of interesting new stuff coming out, but this transcends it all. There's no weak tune on the whole album and it doesn't sound like anything else.

(For the US this would be last year, but here we got it later.)

Movies:

Hotel Rwanda

I've seen a lot of big blockbuster hypes this year, but the one I'll always remember is this one. It's hard not to cry.

Books:

I don't think I've read anything released this year...

Games:

Half-Life 2

F.E.A.R. comes close, but this is the big one. Multiplayer is a bit disappointing but sp was absolutely wonderful.

Your turn!

I've been meaning to watch this; I'll add it to my queue at Netflix.

Books:

This actually came out last year -- but at the end, I think. Neil Stephenson The System of the World. Awesome! But it's the last of a trilogy -- start with Quicksilver. Anyone who's read Cryptonomicon (also by Stephenson) will love these books. By the way, you cannot be a computer geek if you've never read Cryptonomicon. Just an FYI.

Well... No. Sorry! Snow Crash was pretty cheesy compared to most Stephenson. Kindof a Neuromancer wannabe. Pretty good, but you're cheating yourself if you don't dig a little deeper into his library.

Music -

Mudvayne - Just discovered them, love their style, music, and lyrics.

Movie -

Aeon Flux (I don't really watch TV or movies all that much ... ).

Book -

The Crucible Series.

Otherworld Series.

Kushiel's Dart Series.

The Troy Game Series.

Many many many others (Yes, I read a lot.).

Computer Game

Gameplay - Far Cry = Awesome graphics, realistic weaponry system, realistic weapons/damage/enemies/locations.

Playability - Unreal Tournament 2004 = A gajillion different things to try what with about 8 different modes of gameplay along with the multitudes of different mods that servers are running in each mode of game play.

Replayability - Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour = So many things to try out and do, both in single player and online.

Dissapointment - Half-Life 2 was very dissapointing and so was Battlefield 2, not counting the fact it wouldn't even recognize my video card. But the most dissapointing game was Dungeon Siege 2. It was very different from the first one, both for single and multiplayer, and it was changed so much to be like Diablo II that they lost sight of what Dungeon Siege was all about and it totally ruined the game.

Lately I seem to be playing all the olden games, like Final Fantasy Three, Codename Eagle, the Hexens and Heretics, etc... They certainly don't make games like they used to *sobs*.

surak...How was Sniper Elite?

I was thining of getting it.

The reviews I read, said it was a pretty good game. The "bullet views" looked cool. I did read however that the missions take a long time...and you need to start over alot:P

Well after reading seven novels over what...20 years? since I first read The Gunslinger I guess I didn't know what to expect.

I am sure you read the final ending, right?
