Viktor Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Hi Everyone, I've been working on server patches for each of NOLF1, NOLF2, and Contract J.A.C.K. The main issues addressed by these patches are denial of service exploits. Each patch is server-sided, ie clients don't need to install anything. They won't even know that the patch is being used. There is scope for adding more protection than is offered currently, I'll just have to do more reading, head-scratching and hair pulling. If you'd like more information, please PM or email me, as I don't wish to discuss any more details in a public forum. Before I continue work on these patches, I'd like to get an idea of how many people will use them; thus the poll. If you'd like to see these released, please vote! EDIT: Seeing as I don't seem to be able to make a multiple-choice poll, please post rather than voting... I'd also like to get an idea as to whether a self-contained patch (ie one drop-in REZ file, and a text file change) is preferred to the installation procedure described here. (I'm posting this on both UnityHQ and TGF to make sure it reaches most of the community). Thanks. Viktor Quote

Viktor Well you've got 99% of the nolf 2 server hosters here and I already have DOS patches on my servers have for some time now An Italian collegue of mine came up with them almost a year ago. Viktor I added you to my MSN so we could chat about those other ideas too Quote
Viktor Posted November 1, 2005 Author Posted November 1, 2005 Thanks to everyone that voted. I am continuing work on the patches, though progress is slow at the moment. Viktor Quote
Belladonna Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 I confess, I don't know a great deal about this kind of thing, but anything that makes the NOLF games easier to play and manage gets a 'thumbs up' from me. Keep up the goood work! Quote
