criminalcola Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I recently (like about 3 hours ago) installed Windows ME on a Windows 98. I reinstalled NOLF1, but when I went into the game, Cate was completely white!! Here glasses where visable and textureed, Cate was there, but her skin wasnt. I went into mutiplayer and the models where all unskinned too. I havent went into the game yet. I chnaged some settings in Options, but still no luck. I have a Nivida (forgot model) 64 RAM of Video. I have used the game before fine before. Please reply asap. Thanks. Quote

I suspect there isn't a decent Win ME driver for your video card but search www.nvidia.com and see if they have one for Windows ME for your card. I know they don't release Win ME driver for the current cards. Quote
Slngsht Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 If I'm not mistaken, win98 drivers work fine on ME, so try those. Don't use the latest drivers from nvidia, use an older one, as the new drivers are only good for the geforce6000 series and up. Quote

Windows ME has some elements of win 98 and some of Windows 2000 I suspect the win 98 default driver isn't though as he should have it from the previous OS of Win 98 that he upgraded from. Quote
criminalcola Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Nevermind, I reinstalled the game and it worked...some of the resources must not have made it onto the hard disc.... Quote

Slngsht Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 yep, good to hear! kind of on topic, I just successfully downgraded to win98 from xp pro on my machine. (set up as a dual boot) and so far, it seems that the latest driver works for my vid card, which is a geforce4ti4200. I have not tried nolf yet, but I'm sure I will soon. The reason I did this is because I have a game I bought a few years ago when I first got xp, and it wouldn't run on it, even in compatibility mode. I have stared at the game on my shelf for that long. I came across a copy of '98 the other day, so I grabbed it up with the sole intention of playing this game. yay! it works!!! Quote
Genesis Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Yep, the lastest NVidia drivers work fine with the 4000 series, and even with older cards. As for what you said, never forget to do a Google search when an old game is not supposed to be XP-compatible. I'm a big Fallout fan, and it demands 95 or 98 only. It took me one whole afternoon, but I finally got it to work well, and it's more stable with XP than it was on 98 Quote
Slngsht Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 well, I tried everything to get it to work on xp, and finally gave up. As for the new Nvidia drivers, I stand corrected. It does seem that they have corrected the issues I had with new updates. I'm running 78.01 forceware now, and everything works fine. Quote
