Wanted to add the goal is to get the exploits fixed server side and to have a more reliable master server.

People in this gaming community have been really resistant to apply mods or even custom maps.

So it is logical to do the fixes on the serverside or via a game version patch.

While it is very commendable to release downloadable Mods, I personally respect the efforts of Dan to fix the game through the "fix" Mods and I am personally an advocate of converting to these to correct the problems .

New players wouldn't know about it and would get the can't join or even find the servers. Players who won't download these would stop playing. Look how many have embraced having to run a mod to play the no cheat server (traffic is 1/25 my regular DM)

But the logical way is for it these fixes to be released as a version patch (version 1.4 for example)

That is why we need to have this petition.

How often does anyone take notice of these things, though? Not to knock the idea, as I've already thrown my lot in with the 55+ others, but there's the very real possibility it will not go anywhere. sad.gif

A shame, because I'm sure many others have declined in participation because of the rampant exploits - I know it's a major reason I have.

Lets face it - It won't get anywhere. 60 people isn't going to make a company change their minds and take a developer or two off other projects. That said - "he who dares, wins", A very wise TV personality said that. We've got to give it a shot.

Right. I mean... What's the point of saying nothing at all? In a pinch like this, anything is better than nothing, and this is a good and grown up effort. In terms of percentage of the community having signed the petition, I'm sure we can get pretty high.

Well put. Since I put this petition up on Sunday (not an eternity ago) it's not over.

I know from server stats that more play the game. So what everyone needs to do is tell everyone to come sign it. Not post pesimistic posts.

60 or 100....................It doesn't matter. These are people that GAME! If not Nolf2 it may be another game. The point of the matter is, that for the few that "circumvent" the rules, the rest of us suffer. If we bring this point to the attention of Sierra/Vivendi, and let them know we are tired of it, Something will be done. Most, if not all of us buy other games...............some of them Sierra/Vivendi products! Do the math, 60 people, 2 other games, at around 50 bucks a pop.....................Its money out of their pockets! Remember, the customer is always right. Each and everyone of us should contact people we know that have played Nolf2 and ask them to sign..................Who knows, it may bring some of them back.

As much as I'd like them to, I doubt VU will actually do anything. Spending money to fix up a dead game that never did sell well is not something most companies will do, unless their customer service is amazing. Oh well it's worth a try.

Some quotes from TGF. These are pretty much my views

I think the idea of the petition is a nice one, but what is being requested just isn't going to happen. VU isn't going to spend money having Monolith fix exploits. NOLF2 is just too old and too small an audience for them to want to do that.

Punkbuster got into Call of Duty because CoD has something like 10,000+ players online at given time. As well, CoD is based on the Quake 3 engine integrating it would have been much easier than trying to add PB to the Jupiter engine.

A petition asking VU to move the master server to Gamespy (with the appropriate client side game patch) the way NOLF 1 and CJ are would make more sense. (It gets the whole master server problem out of their hair.) Asking for *one* thing is more likely to happen than asking two separate items. (That's because it is easier for VU to say they can't do one item and thus say no to everything in the petition.)

Dragon is right. VU is not going to be going to any great bounds or spending $ to fix up what they consider a dead game.

You're best bet is to ask for the master server to be moved to GameSpy and then you guys can simply run your anti-exploit patch on all servers.

Well we don't give in so easily wink.gif

Read the petition part of it is asking for a more reliable master server wink.gif

I know from Experience in enough make noise people listen (was a big part of the season 4 Save Enterprise campaign) We wrote them petitioned them etc. Like Belgron said most of us own or buy Sierra /VU games.

I guess I have this to say about those who want to give up without even trying.

Might as well uninstall your Nolf 2 then. I on the other hand don't give up so easily as I suspect most other don't. My DM server averages over 900-1200 unique players using it per week. So if all those people made "noise" Sierra VU would most likely notice

As for the master server, well that's why dragon and I suggested it be moved to gamespy. wink.gif GameSpy is reliable and would take the server out of VU's hands. Win win for everyone.

Making enough noise works, I'm not saying this won't, I'm just stating some doubts. But I'm pretty sure about one thing, we'll need alot more signatures.

Just for the record my NOLF2 is uninstalled. tongue.gif

I haven't given up on NOLF2, I singed the petition and pestered a few others to sign as well. wink.gif
