How to play NOLF 2 Multiplayer now that the master server is shutdown

Recommended Posts

WinRar must be used to extract LivesForever.rez from the LivesForever.rar mod.

http://www.rarlab.com/

It is the .REZ file that is placed in the Mods/LivesForever folder.

This may be why so many Nolfers are not finding MultiPlayer.

Eliteone plz modify the Multiplayer instructions! :P

Um ok modified just for you. English is a second language for me and even I knew that meant to extract the rar file contents into the LivesForever folder ;)

Are there a lot of people playing in the SFI servers since the Sierra ones went down?

I hope to catch some familiar people in there.

Yes

Sierra are taking down the master servers for 21 of their games, as of 1st November 2008, including the server for NOLF 2.

The following game servers will be shut down as of 11/01/08:

1. Alien vs Predator 2

2. Arcanum

3. Caesar IV

4. Dark Reign 2

5. Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom

6. Empire Earth

7. Empire Earth 2

8. Empire Earth: Age of Conquest

9. Ground Control

10. Ground Control2

11. Homeworld

12. Homeworld: Cataclysm

13. Nolf2

14. Red Baron

15. Sanity

16. Star Trek: Armada

17. SWAT3: EE

18. SWAT3: GOTY

19. The Incredible Machine

20. Tribes2

21. Vampire

But server Alien vs Predator 2 are not stopped, I see many players on servers Alien vs Predator 2!!!

Also it is not necessary to use any mods (as LivesForever)

At that time NOLF 2 it is already dead now....

Hi all,

After a long period I wanted to play NOLF again, but I have a problem :o

When I run join-by-IP it says:

Error: the serverlist could not be loaded :(

Is there a solution for this problem?

Yes, my solution was restarting the tool as many times as necesary till it will load the list.

+ you can come to unity hq main page, where server banner is, and use the IP and port for "Custom IP" tab. I usually do so when server list is not loading.

oh btw, good to see u wanna back :P

and hi ^^

Heya!

I've recieved the error: Couldn't find NOLF2.exe!

I know where it is, but I don't know how to tell the JoinByIP program where it is. My game is installed on an external hard-drive, and runs fine when I start it via NOLF2.exe.

Any thoughts?

Ahem... Well it was working fine. I tried playing the Single Player again after the Multiplayer was a no-go, and now it has erased all my control settings + refuses to hold any what-so-ever. That is to say when I make the up arrow forward, the moment I press okay and try it in the game, it's gone back to 'unassigned'.

Hello. I used to have that problem too, with single player as well, and a usual reinstallation of the game helped me to solve that problem :) Try reinstalling it, mabey it will help you too :)

The Join by IP tool tries to read the registry-key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever 2\1.0\ -> InstallDir

If there is no such key, you will get the error "Couldn't find NOLF2.exe".

Reinstalling the game should fix the error, as this key will get created during installation.

Otherwise you simply could create this key by yourself (Key-Name: InstallDir, Type: REG_SZ, Value: Your NOLF2 directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Fox\No One Lives Forever 2))

All the old Nolfers are coming out of the woodwork

Go Here to get the mod and join by IP tool.

I'm in the process of redoing the downloads since the last one was exploited etc. Right now the community server is running stock maps so get the two from the link and you should be able to join the server.

Edit: Downloads section on the forum here has all the files needed to play multiplayer on the {U} servers
