Bad news!

Recommended Posts

I've uploaded Sasser's join by IP tool to the downloads.

Another work around for this is to create batch files to double-click to connect to servers.

I've attached a sample (that works for the SFI DD server) you'd simply change the IP/Port to the server you are trying to connect too.

SFI Server Direct connect batch file - by Eliteone

Copy this bat file to your C:\Program Files\Fox\No One Lives Forever 2 folder.

Right Click it and send to your desktop (create shortcut)

When you are ready to play put your Nolf 2 CD in your CD Drive then close the NOLF2 menu.

Double click the batch file shortcut and you are on your way to the server.

Elite we can't download it ? :24: Bill

Really nice of Sierra to do that. You know, that way they can make more space for newer and better games like FEAR...uh...oh wait...bad example...no no no, I'll think of one. Just give me a few years ;)

I think NOLF2 is like Milton in Office Space, when Lumbergh tells him to "just go ahead annnnd, move your desk downstairs into storage B." I think we need to set Sierra's building on fire. :D

Yes you are right, but it wasn't Sierra's fault directly, Sierra was bought by "Activision", the new owner of Sierra now! They desided to use the Servers of new games, like.......????:P

This is just teh sad. Even with this patch business, which is very good of you to organise between yourselves, I think it's the news everyone was secretly waiting for. One of the down sides to living in a capitalist society eh!

To My Fellow "NOLFers",

When I first saw the news about the "NOLF 2" Server, I

was not only saddened by it, I was also very disheartened

about this news.

As soon as I read it, I called Chris Miller in LA to ask him if

he knew what was going on.

Please understand fellow "NOLFers" that there were certain

things that Chris could not reveal to me, however we had a

very nice talk, and I was able to gleam some information

about this situation.

1) Sierra is no more, they are closed.

2) The takeover by Activision is what is causing all of this.

3) Activision is dealing with everything in a Slash & Burn

effect. They are responsible for the "NOLF 2" Server being

closed, and everything else that is going on.

Sierra Is Not Responsible for what is happening (since

Sierra does not exist anymore).

4) Tons of people have now lost their jobs, unfortunately

Chris Miller has also lost his job, he was one of the people

that Activision let go.

He has nothing to do with the "NOLF Series" anymore,

this is very sad news indeed.

However please understand that he still cares very much about

the "NOLF Series", and I hope in the future should Monolith

decide to approach the "NOLF Series" again, that they would

call up Chris Miller to become involved again as Producer,

this is my hope of course.

It is possible that the "NOLF Series" may not be totally

dead at this time, considering the following fact.

Monolith does not own the name "No One Lives Forever",

however they do retain the rights to the characters and story.

So it is possible that Monolith might decide to release a

"NOLF 3", not under the name "No One Lives Forever",

but maybe under the name of "Cate Archer Returns" (example).

So I asking all of you, that you continue to support the "NOLF 3"

petition at " http://www.nolf4ever.com ". It is not over yet,

keep believing, keep the faith.

I am now putting out a call to all of our fellow "NOLFers"

who possess the knowledge of how to do this.

Would it be possible for someone to come up with a patch or

mod that would allow fellow "NOLFers" to be able to see "NOLF 2"

Servers online, and allow "NOLFers" to be able to join the

available servers.

Take Good Care Of Yourselves and Your Families,

Long Live "NO ONE LIVES FOREVER",

Your Friend In "NOLF 1 & 2, CJ, & F.E.A.R.", Always,

"CANADA" From The "GREAT WHITE NORTH".

... One of the down sides to living in a capitalist society eh!

I am familiar with state-operated entertainment forms; The Moscow Art Theatre, and The National Theatre at Prague, for example.

I now find myself pondering what the official mulitplayer action game of a socialist republic would be like.

What would it take for there to be someplace on this site that shows the current occupancy of the servers?

Give us a display of who is currently in known servers, and a list of batch files that will take us there, and everyone who comes here would be able to continue almost as normal.

Come to think of it, I regularly join:

1. SFI DM

2. SFI DD

3. PNX DD

I suppose if I had three shortcuts on my computer that took me directly to each of those, I could check to see if anyone was on almost as readily as how I am doing it now. The shortcoming of this is that without the Master Server directing traffic, (even) fewer people (than now) will be playing.

Anything that can be visible and make it easy and obvious would contribute.

I've got it. All files for all server for all 3 MP modes.

Sometimes my comp stucks when joining, but its only my comp and i dont know what will be with yours.

ALso there's small problem.... with {SFI}'s servers.... DM & DD servers has same IP and same ports:

70.86.157.250:27888. So both files (DD and DM) are joining to DM :S

You can take those files here Join.rar (~ 1kb)

I would prefer to see this pics someplace in here alone, so that I can bookmark them, and reliably come right to them. Maybe put the batch files available for download on the same page for people. Then I can just check to see who is where, and then launch.

I've had some dialogue with them on it. However nothing concrete has been determined yet. I'll post once I have some definitive information

Thanks to Sasser for updating the join by IP tool. It will work for everyone as workaround until the master server future is sorted out.

Will it work, if my friend will make a server with mod?

yes it'll work: you'll have to activate the mod as usually and then use the IP-tool and enter the custom IP of your friend... or in case it's a "real" game server, wich will always be online just tell me the name, IP and port number so I can add it to the database

Just to keep everyone in the loop. As I've used a couple of methods to contact those in control of the master server

We have forwarded your request has been to the appropriate department for review. However, have not yet received any communication from them.

You have actually contacted the Technical Support helpline. We forward similar requests received from various contacts to the appropriate departments. The employees working with the department review the cases and respond to all the contacts.

Your request may be under consideration and they will contact you. However, we cannot provide you with any time duration as this decision is at the sole discretion of the department.

Please be patient with us and the department will contact you if they are interested in your proposal.

Regards,

Blake.

Technical Support

I contacted the technical support people as well as others at Sierra and even Activision/Blizzard. At least someone responded :P so far.
