[FF5]Knix Posted December 5, 2006 Share Posted December 5, 2006 I'd appreciate it if people would stop promoting FEAR in topics having to do with NOLF. Yes, I know some of you really like the game, but there is a whole separate section for you to say so. I'll play FEAR now and then, but compared to NOLF2, I think it 'sucks' too. I don't want an alternative, I just want my NOLF2. I swear you guys are starting to feel like vultures circling around us when the master server is being flakey. Yeesh, just trying to liven up the forum is all. Nolf is a game, not a child. I am suggesting is all that people have alternatives, and of course if they do choose to play FEAR, to do so on teh SFI server . In the past few months I've been crazy busy at work, and when I would take a mental break and check out the activity here, I would click on "Active topics for today" and see only 4-5 listed, of which heatman had 2-3 under guess the next poster or the like . So there is no stabbing anyone in the back from this end of the screen. Community as a whole- I'm assuming you took my picture in the jest it was intended. I like gaming with 90% of you, and wish to continue doing so. I also like having more then one or two options for servers, with people actually playing in them. I also like having servers which are occupied by players, and run 24/7 hosting only new maps, thus rewarding those who put hours into their creation. I like having a game which stay up continuously, and do require it's players to be at the mercy of a company who every 2-3 months shuts down direct access to the game! I like having a game with updates, and the option for automatic download of skins, mods, and maps when entering a server. Basically I was bored playing the same 6 maps over and over and over again. Everyone knows all the spawn points, glitches, leaning spots, tag areas, etc. I wanted something new. I have heard some people complain about FEAR, but without any difinitive reason. Just "it sucks". Heck when I started playing it, I put it down after a couple of maps of getting owned, said "screw this" and went back to NOLF. Then I gave it another shot, and found it just as exciting as when I picked up NOLF2 for the first time. I haven't even tried the SP yet, as the MP is so much fun. Anyhow, I'm just trying to create a little friendly banter, at the same time suggest as a community, since the MP version of the game is FREE, to try it out, and see this place grow back to the way it once was. No offense intended. If nothing else, you'll at least get a bunch of response saying "KNIX this is not the area for this sort of note, please move it" or "Knix if you don't want to play NOLF anymore, then just leave us alone". I want pink and chartreuse fields on my chessboard... with funny pics on it.... and the characters suck....always the same figures.... Regarding the attempt of sarcasm with your chess point... The figures are not always the same. While you have a rook, Queen, King, Sonic G..er Pawn, etc. you can buy almost any kind of figure (skin if you will) representing those pieces that you can imagine, as well as any kind of colored board as well. And while NOLF has it's 2 servers (semi full, with the same (albeit wonderfull ) people, if you would go to Yahoo Chess, or another online chess site, you would have 100's if not 1000's to choose from. Something must be wrong with me because I never seem to get bored with the NOLF maps. When I had a little flare up of arthritis in my hands a couple of months ago, I was totally stressing about how this was going to affect my NOLFing 10-20 years down the line. I play other games, but none of them make me laugh so hard! I also tried FEAR, but the only thing that I laughed at in that game was my score. Guess I'd better say something about the Master server in this thread....well, um...I'm glad that it is back up. Hope to grow old with many NOLFers. I think there's a chemical reaction that NOLF causes in our brains, and some people develop a dependency to this chemical euphoria. I guess you're just immune! I've spent hundreds of dollars on various games since NOLF2 came out, and I give them an honest effort, but nothing -- NOTHING -- comes close to what NOLF2 provides. FEAR is ok, but if any game came close to filling the NOLF2-shaped hole in my head, it would have been Half Life 2, not FEAR. I got a NOLF monkey on my back, baby! Do I hear 8 months........8 months.........any advance on 8 months......... er....Master server issue..........sometimes I get the "Timed out" error sometimes not........strange!
