It was down (or still is), dunno. I could enter the game normally then after a few minutes i couldn't agin. But though it was joinable through gamespy! But at the moment (must be for like 12 days now) uhq-server isn't listed in the serverlist of gs! You know the reason for why it is sometimes displayed then again sometimes isn't? (Also it sometimes happens that you can see the uhq-server up there and the number of players, but not the names, pings and scores of the players! )

I have to join direct (gamespy, x-fire, batch-file)

and ...once in any server...it works normal.

I can go out and in the servers with master server.

If Sierra stops the support....

think there's no more need respect the copyright!!!

They sold the game with MP-support...

Now they make a breach of the contract!!!

Are we able to create our own master server?

think there's no more need to hold on the copyright!!!

I agree there. Frankly I can't imagine they would care in the least that we did. And should they care, then they would have to do something about this idiotic master server, wouldn't they?

Natter is right - but the question remains, can we make our own master server or just bypass the one on the fritz?

1) What contract was breached? (A license agreement is not the same thing.)

2) Just where in any of the written matter included with the game did Sierra indicate that they would run a master server in perpetuity?

(I agree, the master server issues are a royal pain, but let's not veer off into cloud-cuckoo land.)

It could be technically done, but you would need to patch/mod the game to look for a master server in a new location. That would break things for anyone using Gamespy, etc. to find games. The bigger issue would be getting people to use the patch/mod.

limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on

how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply.

9. Equitable Remedies. You hereby agree that the Parties would be

irreparably damaged if the terms of this License Agreement were not

specifically enforced, and therefore you agree that the Parties, jointly

and individually, shall be entitled, without bond, other security, or proof

of damages, to appropriate equitable remedies with respect to breaches of

this License Agreement, in addition to such other remedies as the Parties

may otherwise have available to it under applicable laws. In the event any

litigation is brought by either party in connection with this License

Agreement, the prevailing party in such litigation shall be entitled to

recover from the other party all the costs, attorneys' fees and other

expenses incurred by such prevailing party in the litigation.

10. Limitations on License. Nothing in this License Agreement shall

preclude you from making or authorizing the making of another copy or

adaptation of the Program provided that (1) such new copy or adaptation is

created as an essential step in your utilization of the Program in

accordance with the terms of this License Agreement and for NO OTHER

PURPOSE; or (2) such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes ONLY

and all archival copies are destroyed in the event of your Transfer of the

Program, the Termination of this Agreement or other circumstances under

which your continued use of the Program ceases to be rightful.

11. Miscellaneous. This License Agreement shall be deemed to have been

made and executed in the State of California and any dispute arising

hereunder shall be resolved in accordance with the law of California,

without giving effect to its conflict of laws principles. You agree that

any claim asserted in any legal proceeding by one of the parties against

the other shall be commenced and maintained in any state or federal court

located in the State of California, County of Los Angeles. This License

Agreement may be amended, altered or modified only by an instrument in

writing, specifying such amendment, alteration or modification, executed

by all parties. In the event that any provision of this License Agreement

shall be held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to

be unenforceable, such provision will be enforced to the maximum extent

permissible and the remaining portions of this License Agreement shall

remain in full force and effect. This License Agreement constitutes and

contains the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the

subject matter hereof and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements.

I hereby acknowledge that I have read and understand the foregoing License

Agreement and agree that the action of installing the Program is an

acknowledgment of my agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of the

License Agreement contained herein. I also acknowledge and agree that this

License Agreement is the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement

between the Parties and I and that the License Agreement supersedes any prior

or contemporaneous agreement, either oral or written, and any other

communications between the Parties and myself.

In a nutshell

In addition, the Program may have a

multi-player capability that allows users to utilize the Program over the

Internet via Sierra's online game network Sierra.com or other gaming

network. Use of the Program over Sierra.com is subject to your acceptance

of Sierra.com's or such other gaming networks's Terms of Use Agreement.

Sierra Entertainment, Inc. ("Sierra") reserves the right to update, modify

or change the Sierra.com Terms of Use Agreement at any time.

This is the Achilles heel so to speak as it appears they can modify the terms of use agreement at any time.

We would need to obtain a current version of that agreement to see what the options are.

I agree with Nixsa (except for the life part, which is an ironic comment coming from a guy in Finland :P).

Nolf will always have a special place in my gaming heart, but as with everything else in life...change is a constant.

I'm not trying to poke the angry bear, but for those of you who both have tried, and have not as of yet tried to play F.E.A.R, I would like you to give it a shot (or another shot).

When I do get a chance to play, that's all I play. While at first there will be a learning curve, such as in every game, the style is very similar to NOLF. People map like crazy (and there are server JUST for new maps), all different versions of play are used. And for those of you who like running around killing people with katanas, in FEAR, you can run around and slide tackle/ punch/ jump kick/ gun butt, and fly kick people to death.

Anyhow just my 2 cents.

agreed. FEAR is no doubt a decent game.

melee attacks > katanas

i played against my roommate where i only used unarmed attacks and he was free to use anything. it was a hi-larious.

in the past few days i tried to play nolf2, but it just wouldnt work. ended up playing FEAR :)

They're not saying it is the same dillhole. It's simply a good alternative.

And BTW- FEAR doesn't suck...it's just a different style of play.

Just download the direct connection tool

copy it and write in the IP's...

and you can connect direct to any server

where's the problem?

P.S. If someone is a bigger puter-noob than me

(what is probably not possible)

i can send you a file wich allows you to connect

direct to our nolf servers (MSN: Nolfnat@hotmail.de)

Nolf isn't dead...a bit sick maybe

but nothing what cannot be fixed if we stuck together

Look at Nolf1....much older...and still got fans... :)

@Nixsa: if you become older..i will tell your wife to move on...mwahahaha

I'd appreciate it if people would stop promoting FEAR in topics having to do with NOLF. Yes, I know some of you really like the game, but there is a whole separate section for you to say so. I'll play FEAR now and then, but compared to NOLF2, I think it 'sucks' too. I don't want an alternative, I just want my NOLF2. I swear you guys are starting to feel like vultures circling around us when the master server is being flakey.

BTW, I've been told you can connect to NOLF2 using XFire when there are issues with the master server. I haven't tried it myself because it went back up but it might be something to consider. BTW, my Xfire name is 'belladonna' if you want to add me to your friends. :)

But direct connecting via IP by using Xfire, Gamespy, the IP tool or just simple batch files ain't a solution... Maybe it'll keep the people who are playing here for a while but then no new people would join... Even if that might be the easiest/best thing to do when the server is down.
