I've got two maps that need the last few wrinkles ironed out. The first one is Fracas at the Factory. This is my first experiment with AI and should be fun even on your own. The other one is Nanathrium, a collaboration between me and Factor. Guess what's mine and what's his!

Arrrrgh, those freaking robots do not die!!! Even disabled, that only lasts a short time. The laser beams are way cool even though they nail me too much. Is there a secret to permanently killing them? Other than that it was pretty decent. :D

 

Nanathrium has some moments of brilliance, but it's just way too big for my tastes. I like my maps much smaller. It seems a little barren, needing more guns. What's with the double pieces? Can that work? Love the movie and the monkeys.

You can kill the robots with one shot. Do you remember the SP? :D

 

For those who don't like the bigness, I've put in the snomo's to get around quickly. You can take them up the stairs, too. And I thought I'd taken out the double pieces already... Oh well... :)

Yay, took a quick glance at the maps. Not bad I'd say!

 

In Fracas, I do get some strange visual effects at some doorways (looking from far, they get black, e.g. from the shop floor to the room with the grates and the robots below). Also I managed to lock me in where the releasable robots are. Then robots respawn and well guess, I died. I wonder what would happen if I'd be able to finish them off? Would I be locked in, could I get out or would they keep respawning (guess not).

 

Nanathrium has some strange visual effects too (the prjector etc.) guess that's unavoidable. But one building that you can see looking out of the "cinema" disappears in a strange way (gets triangular). Prolly the fog and also unavoidable but you never know. :) I reckon a person inside the fish tank is able to shoot enemy, but cannot be shot from the outside, not?

The thing with the disappearing shapes in the distance has to do with the distance for which the game draws. I can set that a bit higher to make the effect go away.

 

I didn't make a switch in the roboroom, because, well, you die. :lol: If you do manage to survive, the only way out right now is to kill yourself (possible with the electric darts when you stand in front of a wall). Think it's important to make one?

 

I don't think you're invincible in the fishtank, but I do have that problem with the projector lights. People can go through them, but bullits can't. :huh::huh: If anyone knows how to fix that, let me know!

In the robo map, I see a black hole behind the doorway at certain angles. Think that is a bug. In the other map I reckon it's the fog that is calculated as a kind of plane in the 3D world, least that would explain why objects disappear "triangular" shaped. Just the disappearing wouldn't be the problem.

I guess there's no need for a switch. I sure was surprised when the door closed and I was locked in with 5 bots . Didn't survive for a sec. By the way I fear robots (unless I made them) so that map is the HORROR for me!

Hmm, couldn't test it but it seemed to me as if shots wouldn't get through the tank from the outside. I reckon you placed destructable glass in front of non-destructable bc you can shoot the first layer of the tank. So I'd think you can't shoot through the second layer. Well time for the burn-in test. :D

ok, as u know i am biased in my opinion since i helped design nanathrium...

 

but...

 

honestly bella, i dont feel its too big :(

i think the main rooms are maybe a bit too big...but other than that, i think everything is fine... i think i made it close to the size of calcutta...

but yah, the roads are plain, sorry about that :(

 

as for weapons...thats all Goo :P

so if there arent enuff...blame him :P

ok after testing... this is what i got...

 

ok, nanathrium seems like a good size to me...some of the buildings are tall, so it gives a perception to think the map is bigger, but its not...

nanathrium does have a lack of weapons though...it could use a few more.

also nanathrium has like...2 cores...

maybe its because it is placed on a ladder thing... maybe if u changed that property of the thing to not a ladder for the WHOLE thing...maybe...i dunno...

 

as for factory, i loved it!!!

except, there wasnt enough electric ammo, so, my fun ended fast :P

and the ammo takes too long to respawn.

haha.

 

but a very nicely designed map, i really like it :)

I finally had a look at the maps :)

 

You've been busy Goo! and I'm surpriced that the big open areas doesn't give high frps drops :D

I guess you've done a good job with the occluders (sorry Spacko)..

The idea with the robots was cool, had fun blowing up robots until I was out of zappers, and they ended up

zapping me instead.. (I know exactly how you feel Alexa, I was more relaxed when i played fear.. lol)

 

I was able to jump out of the other map through a "almost" nonsolid wall,

but didn't survive the fall though :P
