I just moved to a new computer. I have checked my problems with NOLF2 at each step as I have set it up. Installed, the game works fine. As soon as I install the 1.3 update, though, it will not start. I have tried it with and without the mappacks. I have tried the 1.1 and 1.2 updates. They both work fine. For some reason 1.3 sours the game.

When I launch, I get the yellow mini-window in the middle of the screen. I press 'Play.' The mini-window disappears. The CD spins in the CD drive. Nothing else happens. If I check my task manager, I see that NOLF2 is not running, but Lithtech.exe is running under processes.

My computer is a Gateway. It has two processors, and plenty of ram (4GB). It is a lot more machine than my previous machine, which ran NOLF2 fine. The video card is an NVIDIA GeForce, same manufacturer as my old one. Looks like a software conflict, but I am not sure what it would be.

Does anyone have any insights?

Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem, something to do with DVD ROM drive not reading the disc, someone gave me a patch to avoid having to read the disc and this solved the problem.

Unfortunately not sure where to get the patch now.

Maybe someone more technically minded can point you in the direction

The nVidia 8x.xx series Forceware video drivers are known to cause problems with games on dual processor/dual core systems.
