As far as the patch petition goes, the only 'noise' they are going to pay attention to is player numbers. Unless there at least a thousand players or servers there just isn't any financial motivation for them to commission a patch from Monolith. An online petition won't get their attention as it is too easy to 'stuff the ballot box'. Phone calls and *hand-written, polite* letters would be a better tactic. While I don't think the odds favor a patch the most weight would be given to people who took the time to hand-write a request.
As far as hosting a backup server goes, it might not be as simple as hosting a single server. I suspect that Sierra is using a series of load-balanced servers. I know they did that for Half-Life when it used WON. I also don't see Sierra letting a 3rd party have access to their authentication system as I bet it authenticates all of their games. I'd be surprised if NOLF 2 used a stand-alone system.

Any opinions?
It isn't NOLF, but if you don't mind twitch-based shooters you should be ok. There's some fun stuff in the game and some brain-dead stuff. Enjoy the fun and ignore the bad. For $9 that's pretty easy to do.

I miss Cate. I miss the tags. I miss the stealth. I miss female skins. I mostly miss the fun. It's much more of a testosterone vehicle for the guy gamers. But it's in the NOLF series, so it's a must have.

When I saw Cate during the truck ride I was hoping to encounter her during the game. Unfortunately that glimpse seems to be the only time she is present.

Well, i passed all the game, but it was like 5 years ago, so...
Thank you for clearing it all up.
Ah, then that's your weapon when you need to retrieve a parachute.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers here, but that's a special weapon from a later level in the game. You'll know it when it happens. I won't say more because your comments indicates you haven't played that level yet.

If it helps your bandwidth bill, you can just host the rar version. Just point Mac OS X users to UnrarX at http://unrarx.sourceforge.net/.

In the lounge, that's what's written there, so it's definately this one. Thank you for the information.
Sorry, but you missed one number... Not as if it matters, but i was puzzled for a while.
I screwed up.
I've fixed the listing. What happened is that the music cd is a hybrid data/music CD so what would be track 1 is actually game data. Between looking at the actual tracks and the listing on the back I got myself confused. -
I actually don't really understand whether this is the right list or not.I don't remember any of these tracks in-game, and there are only 11 tracks on my CD, but that song seems to be 'Play it Cool' alright.
The soundtrack is different depending on if you have the original version or the Game of the Year version with the remix tracks. Figuring out the name of the all the tracks has been problematic (different sources have given different names) and even the music CD doesn't list the name of all the tracks.
The original music CD lists the names of the titles on the packaging:
1. Goodman's Surprise
2. Santa's Workshop
3. Be-boppin' Shoo-woppin' Along
4. The Operative
5. Elevator of Love
6. No One Grooves Forever
7. Suisse Chalet
8. UNITY'S Spy
These tracks were written by Becky Kneubuhl
9. [unknown Title and Author]
The two bonus tracks from the contest ( http://www.indiespace.com/fox/samples.phtml ) are:
10. Void
11. El Dorado
Void is by a band called Red Delicious
El Dorado is by Archie Thompson
This is my current best guess for the Game of the Year music CD based on comparing the two music CDs:
01) Goodman's Surprise
02) Santa's Workshop
03) Be-Boppin' Shoo-Woppin' Along
04) Elevator Of Love
05) The Operative
06) No One Grooves Forever
07) Unknown
08) Suisse Chalet
09) UNITY's Spy
10) No One Lives Forever
11) Goodman's Surprise remix
12) Santa's Workshop remix
13) The Operative remix
14) No One Grooves Forever remix
15) Unknown remix
16) UNITY's Spy remix
The first nine tracks are by Becky Kneubuhl. The tenth track is by Rich Ragsdale. Tracks eleven to sixteen are by Gabe Rutman and Scott Clausen.
The unknown song starts with the words "very nice" and is the ninth track on the original "In The Lounge" CD.
EDIT: Corrected the track numbers on In The Lounge

Thanks.

Nolf 2 on the Mac can be a bit wacky graphically:
That happened to me for a time. Somewhere along the way an ATI driver update mostly fixed the problem.
As a side note, MacPlay used to sell Nolf 1 as well, but they don't any longer. However, you can find it as part of a bundle here: Game On! Action Pack. Gogamer.com (recommended!) and Macgamestore.com both have Nolf 1 and 2 in their Mac section. (Nolf 1 for the Mac is the full Game of the Year edition.)
EDIT: Corrected the statement that the problem was fixed. It isn't, but it doesn't occur as much as it used to. Added the links to gogamer.com and macgamestore.com.

You can also get the game direct from the publisher here: http://www.macplay.com/games/g.nolf2.php

Nolf 1, Contract Jack, and F.E.A.R. use Gamespy directly. Counter Strike Source, Half-Life 2 are Steam-based. Sierra/VU doesn't have anything to do with any Valve game any more since the resolution of the lawsuit.
