Ah yes I saw those repositories, great work on Haekb's part, definitely helps get the ball rolling in terms of a modern release for NOLF 1 and 2 (as open source).
I will see if I can get in touch, maybe can expand on those repositories to make a full build possible.
I haven't even played J.A.C.K before, have to check it out, but NOLF holds a certain special place in my childhood memories so.

Not sure if this is the appropriate section but here it goes, so given that the game is in rights hell, I wasn't sure if it has been talked about before but it would be interesting to have a team of developers/hackers get together to reverse engineer and open source nolf to github. I myself have some experience with reverse-engineering games with C++ and ASM, never tried something like NOLF though.
Obviously that would be quite an effort but it would allow for a lot of stuff to happen so and possibly even bring a lot of people back into playing the games.
Of course this is all up in the air if the rights issue won't let it happen.
I have noticed the game's code on github before but those repositories are old and rather incomplete, my idea was having ready to use pre-compiled binaries for windows and linux including the game's assets while also have tarballs or zips of the source code ready for both x86 and x64.

Open sourcing NOLF on github

An even more ambitious goal would be to have some modern mod tools like an up-to-date map editor built entirely through open source software, could even use imgui and a hot reloading layer.
