  1. The server is now active and running the project P.O.O.P. mod (DD) as well as select maps from the unity mappack :D

    **Be sure to set your skills in the Player->Setup page before joining a game!

     

    Quickstart:

    -installs like any mod (see Mods section @ whosaidpoop)

    -Jump to go up, crouch to go down in flight.

    -Change views: TurnAround (backspace) and CenterView (End); lookback, poopview.

    -Zoom 2x when you have a sniper gun by pressing zoom twice.

     

    -other stuff: has double jumps, multi-player anti-cheats, weapons mods.

  2. That and maybe lower hardware acceleration. Do so by hitting Start, Run... type in dxdiag and press enter, find your sound device and drag the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider one or two left. Also lower the sound quality from the game's settings.

  3. Those txt files are the config files the dedicated server program uses.

    Be sure to choose the one that matches the profile name of the profile that you created your DM map list with.

     

     

     

    I think I remember having a similar problem with not being able to switch maps and such, try:

     

    Look in Custom\Resources, count-up the number of .REZ files. If 6 or more (did I get that right? I always forget :lol: ) move one to another location, be sure that nolf is not running while moving .REZ files. Try running it again.

     

    btw I'd recommend the giant mappack on the unity downloads and delete older custom mappacks to save some space.

     

     

    The scmd stuff:

    This is used for a player to be able to skip/set maps, set some options (friendly fire etc), kick\ban players.

    This is done using the in-game chat, 1 login at a time and do so in game.

     

    Logging in:

    in-game chat, type: scmd login passwordhere

    I had a similar problem running one of my maps- I think the World Properties object was missing (if someone can contact Mammoth maybe..?). -In one case I was able to skip the map, but forgot how. Either way it messed-up scmd.

  5. Oh well, he ended up leaving because he had the guts to call us noobs, not before having given all of us colorful names.

     

    Just another ordinary day in NOLF2. It didn't ruin the game, it just made us sad for him, in fact.

    Hehe, I sniped him good (somewhere in base to his tower...RRampage map) and he says something like how the- !? I didn't explain my shot- that would proly only encourage him to continue.

    Calls me cheater etc and eventually leaves. :D

     

     

    In AAgression, I have tried shooting thru walls blind, it's very easy as u can hear your shot hitting, then you keep shooting. If you don't hear it, you can sometimes see the shadow. Or you can watch someone walk\run inside something, and with the right timing... Then there's using the radar to chase down a part carrier and be able to shoot em from the outside-in without much trouble. Btw it's very easy to change the walls from their original setting to non-shoot-through with a mod (dedicated server file changes (?) or a rezzed mod).

    Also, a crouching sniper behind a tin wall will not be hit if the other sniper\shooter is about in front of them. The shot goes through them if they are pressed against the wall. This happens as the engine sort of teleports the bullet for some distance (which the wall is less than) for some of the game's materials.

    I have checked this - and in fact reminds me I have in the past managed to use dxfix for that type of server.

     

    It has been metioned that you should not have more than 6 .rez files - is this with regard to "custom" folder, as I have the following in main folder:

     

    engine.rez

    game2.rez

    game.rez

    gamedll.rez

    sound.rez

    update_v1x3.rez

     

    I have in past run dxfix and amod modes successfully, so really not sure why i am having trouble this time.

    Don't touch those, those are required to play.

    The .rez limit only applies to the contents of the Resources folder that is within the Custom folder. These are map files or mappacks (btw, you can have as many mods as you like).

     

    Let's do this from the start:

     

    You downloaded the file. Found ExpFix-v1-2.REZ.

    You opened the Nolf2 directory.

    Open the Custom folder.

    Open the Mods folder.

    Make a new folder called exactly this: ExpFix-v1-2

    Now, cut the ExpFix-v1-2.REZ file.

    Then paste it to the ExpFix-v1-2 folder you just created.

     

    Now it should be ready for activation and play.

    Activation->Click the Custom button that should now be found under the Play button just before starting Nolf2. Look for ExpFix-v1-2. Click it to place a checkmark on the checkbox next to it. Click OK. Start!

  7. Let's start an FAQ/info for mods in general :)

    This includes common problems I or others have had:

     

     

    Does my mod have to match the server mod?

    Yes. You may join games on servers running your active mod only.

     

    The game does not load the mod correctly.

    Check the number of .rez files. If you have more than 6 in your Custom\Resources folder, you may have to move some out. The easiest way may be cutting a .rez file and pasting it one directory up (Custom folder). Keep in mind, you must move it back if you wish to play that map(pack) later.

     

    How do I deactivate a mod?

    Exit any active games, start the Nolf2 launcher. Click Custom, click the mod you were using to uncheck it. Click ok. You may now go and start a regular game of nolf2.

     

    Can I play a mod and custom maps?

    As long as a mod allows it (most do). Be sure to have no more than 6 .rez files in your Custom\Resources folder.

     

     

     

    And while we're on the subject of .rez files:

    Custom skin file users:

    Where do I place custom skin files?

    In your main Nolf2 directory.

     

    How do I activate custom skins?

    In the Nolf2 launcher, click Options.

    In the Comman-Line field type something like this:

    -REZ Your_skin_file_here.REZ

    Click on 'Always pass command line arguments to the game'

    Click ok.

     

    Can I use more than one custom skin file?

    Yes, the next entries only overwrite similar changes from the first.

     

    I seem to be kicked or banned from games in general:

    Remove any extra skin files from your entries and test which is causing a problem.

    What do you hope to get out of this?

     

    All I've seen from people that do the same are: false-positives and discouragement to play the game.

     

    The reason I mentioned a SS, is because I know someone who was doing the same as you. So I heard that it works this way.

    sound, random searching (I do so all the time. I also pretend not to spot a player sometimes, I move around first.), good guesses etc

    I agree with rops on this one.

     

    I dunno. Video-record me. See if it's the same.

     

    How do we know this person didn't go get a kitty? It only spawns there...

    That last one, how do we know that player was not escaping the tag\rocket explosion?

     

    So if I think they are cheating..? I can't say. Give me a screenshot from them, then I would know. :unsure:

     

    btw, to get in an anti-cheat server isn't so painfull yo. Click...Click...same game :blink:.

     

    Jump-in that server, it's waiting to be used. Don't let it go to waste!

    Played it for a while, seems like it will take some time to get used to.

    Went from 5200FX to 6800FX LE (light edition, not as strong as regular, can tweak the software a bit though)...

    Most of the games I've tried play comfortably, or at little performance cost- could turn down visual quality by much less than a notch.

     

    As for the mouse, I still have the wired wheel microsoft optical, it's ok, durable.

    1st question:

    Place your SoundFX object near your Weapon object.

    Properties: Might want to make it non-looping, and not starting on.

     

    Weapon Properties: At Pickup, make the command something like this:

    msg SoundFX0 on;

  14. The mod itself is about 95% done, but the maps still need loads (and I keep adding stuff lol). It seems better to release the maps + mod altogether to save everyone some disk space. I'm gonna release the final beta (mod19) to have it thoroughly tested before releasing ModX in the mod pack.

     

    So it seems this project will end when it started last year- in March.
