A release on GoG.com is more likely. And preferable, I might add. GoG.com = DRM Free games with extra goodies on top..and for low price..and you do not need to install a client to download your games. Need I say more?
I see what you are saying, but the people who want NOLF2 cheap and without a client platform can already get it that way in its retail form. If someone wants to get NOLF2, it is not difficult or expensive to do so. Despite this, the game's community is getting smaller and smaller. And that's the key: finding a way to reverse that specific trend. It's more about awareness and marketing exposure than cost or portability.
In this case, DRM (meaning the Steam client) would actually work in our favor. Gamers who are already forced to use Steam to play certain wildly popular Steam-only games (Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, COD:MW2, COD:BO, etc) are constantly exposed to new offerings in the Steam library. Also, the Steam Friends system can help spread the popularity of under-appreciated games like NOLF2. When people repeatedly log into Steam to play the mainstream games listed above, they might be compelled to purchase NOLF2 if they see someone on their Steam Friends list playing it. For example, I have bought dozens of cheap games on Steam as a result of investigating them after seeing friends playing them.
Finally, Steam and Monolith already have an active business relationship due to Steam distributing the F.E.A.R. series. I'm not sure GoG.com has this advantage.

Oooh... this could be fun!

You still installed X? I talked to BSR yesterday, he'll reinstall as soon as he gets home from vaca. And RXS said he'd start workin on it. Trig is gonna try and figure out how to run the 8 man coop on SP maps. Pig pile on the tricycle!

Oh and bringing a few of the l4d crew too...Rd, Tavo, Gibbor & Trunks...
Yup, I still play NOLF2 with family members from time to time. I usually try to NOLF with the international crowd every month or two, but I haven't been gaming much lately. That may change now though.

Say what?!? The old guard returning to NOLF2? Sweet!

Adrian, you do realize you don't have to be physically in a server to see who's in it.
I'm too big to be physically in a server.

It's a really nice group of people, isn't it, X?

Sure is!

Spoke to RXS recently. I believe he will be joining us soon.
Gasp!

Great Fun!
in NOLF2
It has been great fun to come back and play! Funny how most of the people are the same folks who were here when I started playing back in 2005.

Thanks, E1! Adding that code and making the autoexec.cfg file read-only fixed my mouse button issue!
-
A lot of gamers have been using Mumble recently. It has a reputation for the lowest latency.
-
I'll be back soon... I just need to get around to fixing my NOLF2 installation.
-
Edit the config file on your desktop then copy it back in. (Sounds like this is a Windows 7 issue about file writing)
I understand the logic of editing the autoexec.cfg file, but I do not understand the syntax of the key bindings. What should I change here?

After installing NOLF2 for the first time on my current desktop PC, I cannot get the mouse buttons to bind. I cannot fire with the left or use/open with the right (default mouse bindings). The Configure Controls menu shows those bindings as "unassigned". The menu allows me to assign the mouse buttons, but if I click "OK" and then return to Configure Controls menu to view those new settings, anything I assigned the mouse buttons to has reverted to "unassigned".
Moving/clicking with the mouse works great in all of the menus, and simply looking with the mouse works great in-game, but I cannot get the mouse buttons to work in-game due to their assignments disappearing.
I have tried setting the NOLF2.exe file to Run as Administrator and also to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Still no luck. Has anyone seen this issue before?
-
Yeah, yeah... I know this isn't exactly a NOLF3 topic. However, this topic's end goal is the development of NOLF3.
These days, I mostly play games that are delivered through the Steam platform. The library of Steam games has grown immensely over the last few years, and many of the added titles are old games (going back to early 90s and even late 80s... back when Natter was in grammar school). Monolith already has a relationship with Steam/Valve in that FEAR, FEAR2, and all FEAR expansions are available on Steam. With that in mind, could we push Monolith towards adding NOLF2 to their Steam library? I don't know the legal issues that they might face, but I do know that this could spark a NOLF2 revival among PC gamers. New games show up every week on Steam, and thousands of curious gamers buy them and play them (especially the budget-priced games, as NOLF2 would probably be). In my opinion, a successful distribution of NOLF2 over Steam could prompt Monolith to send NOLF3 into development! Even if NOLF3 never came to be, having NOLF2 distributed on Steam would add tons of new players to our community. Heck, we might even see a return to the good old days of clans and tournaments!
Thoughts, anyone?

I do not know about Sly's original video, but here is the parody I made of Sly's video as a joke:
-
Before i uinstaled it, my friend had a CUSTOM button. But you said that we should reinstalling it without directX.. And now we dont have a custom button.. I shall say to him that he shall reinstall without directX again and se what happend then...
The "Custom" button will not appear unless you have at least one mod in place for the game to use.
-
Sooooo maybe I'm just a little slow, but does ModX1 allow you to play the standard single player NOLF2 campaign in co-op mode? I have never seen anyone play co-op with more than those extra four silly co-op missions before.
Funny video, Trig!

ehm? im expacting all LEADERS to be on the biggest nolf forum / community.. they can read here. is no need to send to all leaders, when i can write it here! and if u can see on the pictires sandy. was playing... and he could report it to his leader, and he also have scmd...

Chris wasn't telling you to contact all leaders. Just the one whose server you saw 007 in. Just because someone manages a server doesn't mean they will regularly check unityhq and read your posts. All Chris was saying is that if you want something done about this guy, go to the person/people who have power to do something about it rather just start a thread in a public forum.

i dunno if everybody who's interested in purchasing nolf can stand the music playing in the background

It's there for the irony, not the pleasantry...
btw is the sound of the vid only screwed up for me or do other people also experience this problem? because other youtube vids work fine for meYeah, I'm no video editing guru. The avi2vcd compression tool I used to prep the video for YouTube gave the music a bit of a fuzzy tone.
I did the video on a whim, so I haven't felt the urge to put any time into trying to clean up the quality. As long as it can still make a few people laugh, I doubt I'll do any more work on it.

I'm wondering why is there always this "www.fraps.com" in your movies
Why i haven't got it?
The demo edition places that title on captured videos.

Rest in peace my friend

So sad to hear this news. Natter was a good man and will be missed by all. RIP, friend.
