  1. Sounds like it's time for a LivesForever mod for Contrack Jack.

A mod like LivesForever isn't really needed for Contract Jack since there is no strict CD-Key error like in NOLF2 (validation is done by the game server and by default, allows unvalidated players to join if the process can't be completed).

The good news (that I see anyways) is that CJ stills has it's CD-Key's being validated by GameSpy and that the game names contractjack, contractjackd & contractjackpr are still valid on GameSpy's master server.

But the bad news being obvious, CJ no longer has a working server list (that I hope is just due to an error).

If this isn't due to an error, then it sounds more like CJ needs someone to host a server list like NOLF2's ;)

  2. I don't mean to bombard with questions as there are still unanswered ones here, but I am stuck after finally being able to download. When I click play I get an error message that says "Unable to open the file launchcmds.txt for writing. Please make sure that the file is writable and try again."

While searching for an answer I noticed this file being mentioned but found no solution. I don't even have the file in the download. I added the patch. I even tried launching from my CD which doesn't include the file either LOL. What am I doing wrong?

Perhaps running NOLF2.exe as an administrator my help (I'm assuming your running Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and installed to the default location). By the way, launchcmds.txt is a file generated by NOLF2's launcher ;)
  3. Hi, I did notice the resolution mistake and have changed it.

Right now only way to get 1920x1080 is using your weapon mod and change it in game. And before i exit i need to change it to the original available resolution or do it in the launcher menu if i kept it at 1920x1080 the game will crash during start.

Also i notice the scene where you have to torture the Danger Danger member using the electric shock it will crash using 1920x1080, i changed it to 1440 during that scene in order to continue.

I think there's some incompatibility with the game & the resolution, or you guys having no problem at all playing it at 1920x1080?

My PC's display max resolution is 1440x900 and the game works fine, however my laptop's display is 1920x1200 and it does crash at startup at that resolution, I blamed it's drivers...

You may want to find the highest safe resolution to start the game with and add it to your command line so you can enjoy the game outside of my mod.

Non the less i managed to complete the game in FullHD with your weapon mod. So very big thankyou. Also didn't notice the extra weapons like lightsabers until i started using guns cheat code. They suck to be honest... at least the damage they deal. Wished i can deflect bullets with it.

BTW i had no problem playing Impossible difficulty until where you get thrown off the space with just a laser gun, anyone beaten that in impossible mode?

The lightsabers where meant for multiplayer ;)

  4. I actually tried with the default setting & enter the commands in the command line to change the resolution but it still crashes. I don't know why if i set it based on the resolution available in the menu it runs but when i force 1080p it crashes.

Sorry, there was an error with +ScreenHeight in the commands I posted, if you haven't noticed, change +ScreenHeight 1280 to +ScreenHeight 1080

That may or may not help with the crashing, but you should be running at 1920x1080 in the menus.

just an update after activating your weapontest, after entering the commands you recommended, the original resolution when entering the game will always be 640x480. However the 1920x1080 option is now available in display menu ingame so i can manually switch it to full screen everytime. However subtitle disappears, and the loading menu become cut on the sides.

I then deactivated the weapon fix & added -rez Custom\mods\WeaponsTest13\WideScreenFix.rez behind all the commands, in this case the 1920x1080 option will not show up so i'm guessing i did something wrong with the command? I tried this method with no mod activated & also pegasus mod both doesn't have any changes.

So in this case the only way for me to get 1080p is activating weapontest & manually change the resolution everytime.

Or is there a better solution to my problem?

The widescreen fix only fixes the chat input & a few menu items (it's far from complete ;)), this file will not make any non 4:3 resolutions show up, so you did nothing wrong with the command (minus my error addressed above :-).

*Another question would be is there anyway to use back my old game saves, i tried copying it into my save folder but in the game i can't see them, the only saves i can see are the saves made after i installed. I tried using the save file from the internet & paste it in the save folder (with my profile name) same thing happened. I notice games like Shogo also have this problem.

Also can you guys post here the default autoexec configuration here as i lost my default config?

I haven't messed much with importing game saves, they can become problematic and cause the game to crash if there not from the same version/mod of the game.

You can find autoexec.cfg here now.

  5. I've manage to get NOLF & NOLF2 to work on widescreen however i'm having problem with Contract Jack.

After setting up the graphics in game, i exited and edited the display & autoexec so the screenwidth is 1920 & screenheight is 1280 on both cfg.

However after the change it crashes after loading the game. I'm not sure what is wrong. I'm on 1.1

Also other than the resolution are there any tweaks? I read somewhere adding some lines in the autoexec:

    "fovx" "106"

    "fovxinterface" "106"

    "fovyuwmax" "124"

I also have the Pegasus mod.

It's not a good idea to edit CJ's autoexec.cfg if you plan to play online, your copy must match the server's copy 1:1, else the server will kick you.

The best way to do widescreen in CJ is to add this to the command line (Launcher > Options):

    +fovx 106.260208 +fovy 78.0 +fovxinterface 106.260208 +pvmodelfov 65 +pvmodelaspect 1.599954 +ScreenWidth 1920 +ScreenHeight 1280

Since CJ was made with only 4:3 screens in mind, you may also want to add a widescreen menu fix, Weapons Test 13 includes one you can download it from here.

And then add this to your command line so you can use the menu fix outside of Weapons Test 13 mod:

    -rez Custom\mods\WeaponsTest13\WideScreenFix.rez

Also, don't forget to check the box to "Always pass command line arguments to the game" so you don't have to keep reentering the command line.

Not sure if that mod has widescreen support.

Unfortunately it doesn't, but most of my later mods do :-

  6. To backup HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LithTech Inc., right click it in the left window pane in Regedit and select Export and save it somewhere.

To delete it, do the same but select Delete.

Alternatively, you could just select Rename and rename it to something like "LithTech Inc. Backup" & skip the above ;)

If you still want to reinstall, the NOLF2 Toolkit is located in downloads here, just rename your project folder if it's in the default location (NOLF2\GAME\) to keep any custom stuff safe before reinstalling.

  7. Off the top of me head, files like object.lto, clientfx.fxd and the .dll's in the root of the project game folder can cause crashes, also various files in /attributes/ may also too.

Maybe replacing some of these with the ones from the v1.3 update .rez may help.

If that doesn't help, you could try and remove DEdit's registry settings (back them up first ;)).

DEdit's setting are located here in Regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LithTech Inc.

DEdit should load up like the first time now.

  8. I've tried joining with Gamespy, Join by IP and even your download, all give me the same result.

The rest of yur post has gone over my head a bit URA, but I did change my registry withn the following :

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever\1.0]"WorkingDirectory"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Fox\\No One Lives Forever""Version"="1.004""Update Command Line"="-rez Nolfu003.rez -rez Nolfcres003.rez -rez nolfu004.rez""Content Version"="1.002""Content Command Line"="-rez Nolfc001.rez -rez Nolfc002.rez"

which I picked up from a post from E1.

The above registry appears to belong too NOLF.

Again, is LivesForever.rez mentioned in launchcmds.txt, like this: +mod LivesForever -rez Custom\Mods\LivesForever\LivesForever.rez?

Or you can check NOLF2's command line from the launcher (nolf2.exe) by pressing Shift while clicking Play and look for the above command.

Also, what version of Windows 7 are you using, 32bit or 64bit? And what directory did you install NOLF2 too?

  9. Is this the registry setting you answered Lameduck with?

I did that as well, the thing is the single player plays ok?

To me it sounds as if LivesForever isn't running (hence the CD Key error), it could be due to a missing registry setting since compatibility mode uses a separate set of registry keys.

    64bit non compatibility mode key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever 2\1.0

    64bit compatibility mode key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever 2\1.0

    32bit non compatibility mode key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever 2\1.0

32bit compatibility mode key (not sure, I'm guessing here ):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Monolith Productions\No One Lives Forever 2\1.0

What are you using to join a server with, Join by IP or my Multiplayer Launcher? If you are using Join by IP, is it also set to compatibility mode?

Also is LivesForever.rez mentioned in launchcmds.txt?

  10. hello everyone.

The 16/9 commandlines work well, but not in cinematics (they are still stretched). Is there a way change cinematics fov?

As far as I know, the only option for changing the cinematics fov is with my Lives Forever Plus and Weapons-05b mods.

Unfortunately if you use either mod, you will have to restart from the beginning of the chapter from the chapter list or start a new game.

  11. Hey Mappers could anyone help me getting dedit running the map direcly to the game? i mean... opening the game direcly without opening the games menu(play,custom,display,etc)..

what do i need to change so i can get run the map/game when using dedit tool ?

ill be waiting for an answer and ill go play online when i have some free time =)

    Greetz

    Mike

I don't really remember the default settings here, but your working directory looks out of place to me... try this

    C:\Program Files\Fox\No One Lives Forever 2

My DEdit run settings for CJ

    Executable:

    C:\Games\Contract JACK\Lithtech.exe

    Working directory:

    C:\Games\Contract JACK

    Program arguments:

    -rez c:\games\game -cmdfile launchcmds.txt -rez mod +windowed 1 +ScreenWidth 1024 +ScreenHeight 768 +runworld "%WorldName%"

  12. Hey URA, nice job there. Finally I've found the best solution for that darn widescreen monitor :D

The only thing I don't like is... err how to say... is there sort of block in the mod there? Why the attributes I've set to the game thru text files don't work?

For example, I didn't like some interface details, and I played with edited INTERFACE.txt file. Now when I use this launcher, all the fonts, interface details are gone somewehre... any solution for that? Thanks in advance! :)

(How often do you play CJ, though? I might show up someday ;))

The launcher will load WideScreenFix.rez if a widescreen resolution is set, it only contains Attributes\Layout.txt. It's purpose is to keep a few interface items from running off screen (chat input and most menu items).

If you want, you can apply your changes to WideScreenFix.rez or even delete it.

I haven't played much CJ lately, but plan to get back into it ;)

  13. Nope..it never happened before...i switched back to old launcher and it works again

    i use an ati 4850

Hmm... so it's only playable with the old launcher at 1920x1080? Also what game mode did the crash occur?

Since you switched back to the old launcher, can you add this to the command-line in options on the old launcher (and check the box below) to see if the crash also occurs:

    -rez WideScreenFix.rez +fovx 106.26 +fovy 78.0 +fovxinterface 106.26 +pvmodelfov 65 +pvmodelaspect 1.599954 +ScreenWidth 1920 +ScreenHeight 1080 +BitDepth 32

  14. Hey URA...if i play in higher resolution then 1024 x 798...i tried 1920 x 1080...the rooms looking very long and the walls come closer to me when i run

That is how it should look at that resolution since you gain more field of view to match the displays aspect (examples 4:3 vs 16:10).

and if i press TAB in game it crashes...any idea?

That doesn't happen on either PC I tested with (Win 7, Radeon HD 5770 @ 1440x900 & Win XP, Mobility Radeon 9700 @ 1920x1200). Has this happen before when playing at 1920x1080?

  16. Hello everyone, I was wondering what software I use to develope ltc models or weapons.

I'm looking at creating a pack for Nolf 2 and would like to know how to make the ltc or lta files.

    Thanks ahead,

    Wireframe.

The NOLF2 Toolkit includes plugins for Maya (3.0 & 4.0) & 3D Studio Max (3.0 & 4.0), any of these programs would be your best bet but are hard to find today (there are leaked plugins for later versions of Maya & 3DSM).

There is also lta export plugins for Blender & Milkshape 3D, neither plugin supports animations, you can download my Milkshape 3D plugin from here.

  17. As far as I know, CoopMissions.txt really belongs in a .rez's Attributes folder.

As for the "Error - This config file has no maps selected." message, did you setup the coop server from NOLF2's Internet/LAN menu?

Also you can try my LivesForeverPlus mod, it includes all the regular & SP missions for coop, you just need to select the SP missions from internet/LAN > Coop > Host options > Campaign > Missions.

  18. Using the command line seems to have helped. The game feels somewhat smooth. I do have one issue. For some reason, my name has changed to "+screenwidth". I cannot change my name back. Any suggestions?

Forgot about that with Join by IP

My name has shown up as "+windowed" before, 2 options, either should work:

    a. Put your name into the Playername field in Join by IP before playing

    b. Put your name in the beginning of the command line (in front of +screenwidth)
