  1. TUTORIAL ON TEAMSPEAK

Hi there! I'm Slngsht, and I'll be your guide today!

Today we will be installing and setting up teamspeak for all who are interested in this wonderful tool!

First thing you need to do is download and install the client. You can get it here: ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/teamspe...nt_rc2_2032.exe

After you have installed it, when you run the program, you will see the following window:user posted image

What you need to do now, is click "Connection"/ "Connect"

You now see this window (without a server listed)

RIGHT click on "servers" in the "Local Addressbook" tab and select "Add Server." Name it whatever you wish

Enter in the information exactly as you see in the next picture, but replace "SLngsht" with your assigned nickname in both the "nickname" and "login name" slots. Be sure that you enter it in exactly as it was given to you, as it IS CASE SENSITIVE. Most teamspeak server don't require you to be registered, so you can set up the settings to be unregistered.

(this step is only neccessarry if you are a registered user for a teamspeak server)

Enter your assigned User Password. You are ready to connect to the Teamspeak server. Press "connect" and you should see the following screen:user posted image

WAIT! You aren't quite ready just yet. Now, you need to adjust your settings. Click on "Settings"/ "Sound Input/Output Settings."

The following is how I have mine set, but you will most likely need to set yours up differently. Just use mine as a basic guideline. Use the "Activate Local Test Mode" button to set it up to the optimal settings. When this is activated, nobody can hear you say "blah blah blah blah, testing one two three" while you get things set up correctly. The green light will light up when the program detects that you are speaking. It should not light up when you are making strong keystrokes, because you may be doing just that while playing a game.

Alternatively, you can set it up where you speak only while pushing an assigned button. This isn't as convenient as voice activation, but is more private.

Tips for making the usage of Teamspeak enjoyable for you and everyone else:

Use headphones, and NEVER USE DESKTOP SPEAKERS!!!!!!!! What happens, is that it causes either bad feedback (which is where your microphone picks up sounds from your speakers, which feeds the signal back to your speakers, back to your microphone, in a continuous loop resulting in a terrible loud whining noise) or everyone connected receives an echo, which can be tolerable for a bit, but very annoying after a while. It is also very difficult to speak when you hear yourself saying the same thing a fraction of a second after you have said it.

Moderators or Admins are welcome to add to this, edit it or anything you guys wish to it.

  2. Who here acutally uses the teamspeak servers? Every time I get on any of the teamspeak servers I know of, nobody is ever there. This includes the unityhq one, and the SFI one. (not sure of any others for nolf2....)

  3. Rabbit in your headlights - UNKLE

OMG that's one of my favs!!!

There's also one of my favorites that came out at the same time as the U.N.K.L.E. Rabbit in your Headlights video. It was changed before its final release, but I saw it on MTV's AMP, back in '96: Underworld: Push Upstairs. The final release was a helicopter's view of a valley. Pretty boring, but the AMP version was random guys jumping through glass windows in slow motion, and really cool cinemetography. I can't find that video now for the life of me. sad.gif

  4. Eeeew I hate rock! I think it's so wild! And why all those rockstats like Marilyn Manson (YUGH) wear make-up??? Are they all gay or what? I better stick to pop! But if I had to chose I would say Queen... Excuse me, i'm now going to watch Madonna's Drowned World DVD with a performance of myself! Hit me baby one more time!

blink.gif hold on a minute.... queen wore makeup too, and yes, they were gay too. Does this disqualify them?

  5. Personally, I think that the servers shouldn't be tracked by csports. Most of us agree that it does not represent rankings well at all, and it hurts the game. I know I've been on the receiving end of a base storm. It was not fun at all, and I actually quit playing for a couple months because of it. Also, it has the negative effect of turning-off whatever few new players may join our saggy community from continuing to play it.

I feel that csports should not rank the servers, or stop supporting nolf altogether. All it does is hurt things.

  6. I may be a bit strange here, but my favorite music is techno, especially the subgenres of progressive house and breakbeats. I voted for the 80's because that was the music I grew up on. However, the early early 90's I'll have to include in this because of a lot of the new "alternative" bands that ruled the day, such as Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana. Also something interesting is that the late 80's to early '90s was when electronic house music was reinvented from remnants of some types of disco, and is evolving even today. Techno going on 15 years old now!

  7. yeah, it's so strange how the clientMFC crashes all the time on nolf1. I have found that it usually occurs when someone dies exactly as you are shooting. I have read that it also occurs with bad packet loss between server and client.

  8. if it doesn't get fixed or if VU/sierra doesn't plan to fix it, a way around it is to **************** . This, however I DO NOT suggest doing if they plan on fixing the problem, because it is unethical and borderlines illegal, if it isn't already.

  9. Yes, nolf1 is a whole different animal. I do notice a difference when someone is wearing a custom skin, especially when it is animated. It is a bit harder to kill them. I'm not so sure what the impact on ping/lag/cpu time on the server and client is, but In the jag server, some players will wear skins, and are hard to kill. The same person, when they remove the skin, will be easier to kill.

  10. for all you nolf1'ers, the jag teamspeak, which is run by clan-world, is 64.34.161.80:8767. However, you have to be granted voice rights by an admin or channel operator if you are not a registered user. We welcome all that want to come to talk with us, (as long as you follow the rules, of course)

  11. I had not heard of this tool, but I'm glad I heard bad things about it before I heard good things about it. I tend not to trust things microsoft doesn't actively push on people. Heck, I don't even trust things microsoft DOES actively push on people. I usually go with word-of-mouth programs, ones that have been rated by regular joe-schmoe users positively.

  12. yes, it sure is. the nolf2 one was made custom to mimick the one for nolf1. One difference is that the nolf2 map has a ladder to the roof in each base, whereas there is a belt buckle hook to get up there in nolf1 (kind of like a grappel hook)
