i use 3ds max 7 for all my mapping
when it comes to making a landscape, i use a 3d OBJ Screenshot ripper. I use the "Auto Landscape" Function of Trackmania Sunrise/United, dump it with textures, and build on it

i need to get my 3ds max reinstalled, but i might post how to rip Source Engine models today

nice lookin maps! you make em in dedit completely? or do you start in something like 3ds max and move on to dedit
-
i might have a universal loader for this coming soon
its like Join by IP but a little more indepth

Very nice lool.
this is an example of converting a Source Engine map to NOLF2, its insanely easy

i also have Oil Rig from Combat Arms i'm converting to NOLF2/CJ/TPS
-
Unfortunately, those tools aren't 100% compatible with NOLF2. In later versions of the Jupiter engine new data was added to map files (about 28bytes per vert, iirc). Also some object data can cause a map to crash the game.
i removed the ammo box pickups and it worked fine on nolf2. hopefully that map can be my first release to the NOLF2/CJ world XD
its kinda weird runnin around a mario kart map with guns blazin

my first payday of my new job i'll donate a good bit

By any chance, was the map compiled for NOLF2?
yes it was. although it was for the NOLF2 source code that comes with the Lithtech Jupiter Enterprise.
if i could find my LTA, i'd recompile and see if thats the issue

this is a side project i've been working on. There's TONS of hackers running around the real Combat Arms, so that got me thinking... "Why don't i just convert all the guns to NOLF2 and make custom maps and try to convert the real ones?"
and the idea was born
so far i've 100% redone the ClientFX so all the fx in NOLF2 are more realistic now and look just like CA's
all DTX files are converted and just waiting to match up to something
AR's
Pistols'
Sniper's are all converted
gonna try a character later
anyone wanna join in?

The game has a limit to the number of custom rez files you can have at once (which is why we started bundling them up in the map packs)
How many do you have in your custom folder at the moment?
LivesForever in custom Mods
and my DM_BLOCKFORT.REZ in resources
i tried doing a simple replacement map rename and that even crashes
also crashes with 100% of no mods applied

Fixed...
New Problem
Out of memory when loading my maps? They worked on the demo version of NOLF2?
-
The good news is... those that play the game now wouldn't even think of cheating so it isn't really a concern anymore. If any of us lowered ourselved to cheating we'd be crucified right quick.
i made hacks for my own fps lithtech game just for the fun of it lol

i got bored lol
Image no longer accessible
has 2 bases for TDM
everyone spawns in base instead of outside where vulnerable
up to 24 players
lot's of room to run aorund and just have fun
might release for you NOLF2 folks
lol

this is all coming from an experienced combat arms modder
any kind of hack you may patch, i have probably done in a rez mod
Fly mod can be done by modifying the Jump animation of a child model of a character
VJump can be modded via the crouch animation
glitch key can be done via the walk animations
on top of that
super knife done via modifying the fire_key on weapon models
rapid fire is the same
unlimited ammo mod works on NOLF2
Wallhack can be done via RenderStyles
if your gonna patch hacks, you gotta patch modding the files too

Assuming I'm understanding your comment correctly, since the master server has been shutdown you're going to need to dig through the code to create your own master server or change your client to be compatible with the various existing work-arounds.
creating my own master server, yes. sorry i didn't convey that correctly. there isn't much in the dev documentation on it so which is why i asked

i'm only asking to see if maybe i can save myself some time in trying myself. I'm currently in the middle of my own game on the Lithtech Jupiter engine using the NOLF2 source as a base. I need to run a server for multiplayer, and want to run one like the original in game so you can search for open games and such instead of having to use the IP tool or somethin (which doesn't work with my custom client anyway)
that being said... anyone have experience with NOLF2 source for making a server? Or can i do it without the source and maybe just use files from here? Thanks!
-
it actually is possible. there is a basic DAT to OBJ converter on another forum i'm a member of that i might be able to bring over.
-
i was using this tool awhile back but then discovered an easier method
instead of using 3dx ripper, i actually used to convert Source Engine maps and models using maya or 3ds max 7. simply opening the OBJ extracted from the source engine file, converting it, then texturing it in DEDIT
here's an example (not the best example...) this is a basic crash bandicoot themed map, just for simply runnin around shootin aimlessly... kinda stupid. i'll get a better example later

it's really not hard at all. i'll bust out the tutorial when i get a chance

this was the first map i created myself. This map does work for NOLF2 although it's part of my personal FPS game i'm creating called TPS

Features many spawning points
up to 12 vs 12 teams for games like TDM or on my client, CTF
Up to 24 people for games like Deathmatch or on my client, Free For All
Has Weapon ammo boxes in the appropriate spots just like the original game on the N64
Snow Mobiles for the spot of the carts
will add more to it soon!
