  1. I've always had intermittent problems with Nolf 1 on Windows 10, so in the end dgVoodoo was the best solution and now it runs perfectly.

However, if you're running an AMD card you'll need to select the output to D3D12 in the dgVoodoo control panel. I also set the FPS limiter in-game (with Moderniser patch) to 60 and this fixed the cutscenes audio cut-offs.

    Edit:

This is the GOTY version by the way.

  2. I know this is an old topic, but I managed to get the game to run by forcing vertical sync ON. So many hours spent with hit and miss.

Anyway, I didn't set any compatibility either and it's the GOTY edition running perfectly at 1920 x 1080.

Try going to either Radeon settings or Nvidia control panel to set V Sync On for this game only.

    Hope it helps.

  3. Now that I've started Nolf 1 again, ye olde game bug got a hold of me, especially since a lot of them are such a challenge to get going on new systems.

One of my favourites is Project IGI, an FPS where you play as a special forces bloke, breaking into military compounds and such like using stealth more than anything else. I've been playing it off and on since I bought the CDs back in 2000 and when installed on Windows 10 x64 with compatibility for XP and Admin rights, it plays just fine. Some may have a very low FPS problem which can be fixed using this solution from Xaris.

It's a challenging game, especially since there are no checkpoints or even manual saves, so once you're dead you need to start the mission from scratch. But that's possibly the attraction and makes you concentrate that much harder, so that when a mission is complete it feels that much more satisfying.

14 missions and I still haven't finished the last one as it's so tricky, but I'm sure to keep on trying.

  4. For me it's NOLF 1 without question.

The humour is spot on, totally original and somehow you knew that script couldn't be bettered.

I also prefer the gameplay as there are some really tedious levels in NOLF 2, particularly in India which had me tearing my hair out at times, especially those irritating policemen trying to arrest Cate.

  5. Lots of people have put effort into various installers and the only method that works for me so far on Win 7 x64 is copying the cd contents to a directory on the hard drive and running it directly from there, without any compatibility mode.

I used the 64 bit patch installer (1-3 combined) and then the official patch 4 and it's odd that the game intro screen shows V1.0 as per the screenshot.

Also, I tried the no cd patch as, even though I own the original game, it's a lot easier not having to grab the cd every time, but the no cd patch always comes up with 'no game resources found' error, so I have to play with the cd in all the time.

One other method would be to iso the cd, mount it, install from mount.

For the resolution I changed the screenwidth and height in the autoexec.cfg to 1920 and 1080 which works fine. I'm still puzzled about the game version though and will install on another pc just to test it out again.

  6. It seems to be going the other way now.

I know this OP is a little old, but it's interesting to see how many games are developed for consoles now and ported to PC later. Used to be the other way round :(

Gran Torino was console only as I recall. Would love to see that on a PC.
