  1. I have the same troubles - most of us do I think... AND I tried some of the simple things like what RXS mentioned but, if I have been in a lot of programs recently, on MSN, etc. and then try to play....rebooting is the only thing that works for me and sometimes it takes a few boots. System tray empty and all. I do not think there is a 100% fix since I do also think this is a windows problem. Bill needs to get on the stick and fix it. I agree with Phant on the root of the prob.

run the troubleshooting in that link most likely some starts up with your PC that is causing the issue. msconfig will tell you what is running at bootup.

  2. I Get the message "Client MFC application...." but without the code, and when i statrt a new game on singleplayer. When it gets to the director cutscene (Cate Archer must Die) It crashes to the desktop. The game can play on multiplayer, but not on singleplayer. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

This thread has a good troubleshooting guide for this behaviour also welcome to the unity forum.

Typically checking to see what is running on your PC via msconfig finds the problem.

Another option (to troubleshoot it) is to run it on compatibility mode (right click the launching icon and select compatibility) then pick windows 2000 or 98se for example

  3. When I saw this post, my first reaction was, "Oh no, we are about to lose a freebie!" *Ahem* An underutilized feature of the forums. Naturally, I clicked on it immediately and that's when I realized... I run Firefox WITHOUT the Java plugin. (adware free ever since btw) Live chat won't run for me. So... buh-bye live chat. That is my take on it.

in Firefox 1.5 chat runs just fine FYI

  4. Not sure how many are aware how many games Jen has done voice work for.

This outtakes are from Halo 1 & 2 when you hear her regular voice............. It's like Cate was pretty much her regular voice not an "acted" one

  5. You should be able to set the resolution via the command line arguement.

to play the game in a window in the NOLF 2 game launcher, then click on options and in the Command-Line box type:

    +windowed 1

then click "Always pass command line arguements to the game".

Also (though I personally haven't tried it verify it) you can go into your C:\Program Files\Fox\No One Lives Forever 2 open up the display.cfg (save a backup of it first or remember the settings)

and change the display values. Again I personally haven't tried this one but have been told it works.

The display.cfg should contain something similar to the following

    "GammaB" "1.000000"

    "GammaG" "1.000000"

    "GammaR" "1.000000"

    "BitDepth" "32"

    "HardwareCursor" "1"

"screenwidth" "1152" (change to the value you want)

    "VSyncOnFlip" "1"

"screenheight" "864" (change to the value you want)

    Hope that helps

  6. Whenever I play NOLF2 my computer just shuts down in the middle of a game. I need to rebuild the hard-drive apparently and I'm way to lazy for that cause then I have to reinstall everything. So I just choose to deal with it and not be able to play NOLF2. Thanks for the offer though.

hmmmm almost sounds like a issue with your power supply (sudden shutdown) I bet it happens during intense hardware use.

  7. :) I thought I'd add my two cents in even though I don't play the games anymore (due to computer issues). I bought NOLF GOTY edition and was hooked almost from the get go. Once I finished I tried the MP, first time I'd ever done that. I found that all the players were very helpful and fun to play with. I waited anxiously for NOLF2 to come out and bought it like the first day it hit the shelves. It took my longer to finish the SP player in this one (all those annoying sneaking around missions. LOL). Then I went onto to MP and found my niche. Quick2's server was one I remember most, him and Fembot. I had a ton of great games mostly laughing my a$$ off the whole time. For the past year I've been playing SOF2 but I still haven't found the kind of nice, helpful players who I found in the NOLF series. I still think these are the best FPS games I've played. Thanks NOLF for all of the great memories.

What kind of issues is it something I could assist you in resolving?

I'm not a violent person, but I think I would strangle the creators of that "song" with a smile on my face.

Don't you run around shooting people etc in the SFI DM server?

Isn't that a violent thing to do? :P

  9. I'm going to kinda hijack this thread though it is related to some of the content of peoples posts.

I came to the USA almost now 7 years ago with virutually nothing I finished college here and have worked hard to get where I am now (Oh man running servers OYI !! my punishement lol :P) *kidding on the ( ) comment.

The USA didn't tell me you weren't born here so tough luck. Instead I was given the opportunities (though I had to pursue them on my own obviously)

I was raised as a Buddist but am learning about Christianity now. The issue of "eye for a eye" has been a debatable subject for along time. The commandments state thou shall not kill etc.

So the act of murder was committed. that is fact.

However in the US there is the seperatation of church and state so in society here one cannot legally claim the religous angle.

The crime occurred in the State of California at a time when the law states that one possible sentence for murder is the death penalty. There was a trial and a conviction by a judge and a jury.

There has been 20 plus years of legal proceedings, appeals etc.

I can see both sides of the discussions here. Those who live in the US and are aware of all the proceedings in this particular case.

In this case how many deaths do you suppose the Crips gang have caused?

On that same thought should a founder of the crips hold some responsibility for the actions of that which they helped create?

I know in alot of countries around the world the sentences for what many in the US would consider "light" crime (like theft) can get your limbs cut off among other things.

In reading this thread about this particular matter. How about the 4 people who died so long ago now, their lives cut short. What would have became of their lives had they not become victims.

I know in the state where I live in the US now I've researched it costs the taxpayers $40000 plus per person currently in prison. Now I'm not trying to put a price on life but when I see the person in prison living with a warm place to sleep plenty of food to eat, recreational opportunites all provided by taxpayers. Then you see the mother and children who are homeless and trying to find a place to stay warm for the night and feed her children................... their only "crime" being down on their luck. I think that $40000 could buy alot of blankets and food for alot of people who despite being poor don't turn to crime against others.

Just wanted to put my perspective on this.

    *steps off soapbox*
