About This is a patch for dedicated servers only. Do not install this unless you run a nightfire dedicated server. The 5.09 branch fixes a number of exploits in dedicated servers. This patch will allow allow your dedicated server to show up in the new server list after May 31, 2014 Notices Do not run a server with mp_timelimit set to 0. The game will slow down over time without a map restart. Make sure the game gets a chance to change map every 12-24 hours. Currently dm_japan has a few bugs in this version. These will be fixed shortly. Changes Fixed timing bug in pjumping. Changed master server to master.nightfirepc.com New command: sv_explosives, sv_bondmines, sv_pjump, sv_grappleanywhere. Each command to enable/disable said features. New command: sv_sleepperframe. Controls how many miliseconds the server should sleep per frame. Set to a high value to reduce cpu usage, at the expensive of FPS. The command sv_cheats is no longer a toggle command. 0 disables cheats, 1 enables the impulse 101 cheat, 2 enables impulse 101,give/goto weapon spawning and teleportation, 3 enables impulse 101, give/goto, noclip, notarget, 4 enables impulse 101, give/goto, noclip, notarget, and godmode. Changed the way the game handles frames. You can ping boost your server by setting the fps_max to 1000 Improved the Artificial Intelligence (AI) enemies reaction time and turn speed. This was done by implementing a hard coded 66 tick reaction time into enemies, instead of relying on server frame rate Fixed server crash bug when certain common commands were used. This also fixes a crash problem when multiple players attempt to use a mounted weapon Fixed split packet crash exploits. Fixed % symbols in saytext, rcon passwords, and player names crashing the server. Fixed log spam and invalid rcon spam from flooding or lagging the server. Fixed the exploit that allowed unsolicited IP addresses to query flood the server, thereby DDOSing the server's entire connection Player names longer than 512 characters will no longer crash the server along with invalid or corrupt getchallenge packets. Servers now operate under a hibernating function when empty and will no longer use up a substantial amount of CPU when players are connected. Server reliability is also heavily improved, with timing functions completely rewritten which will fix server frame rates slowing down over time and also allow better bullet registration. Server admins can now enable or disable lag compensation with the sv_unlag command. With lag compensation enabled, player hitboxes will be directly on the model rather than in front.

  6. Sorry about the delay. It took a bit longer for me to get things setup on the new host. RL stuff made my time a bit limited. Still fine tuning the downloads so if you find one not working let me know via PM and I'll prioritize getting it fixed. Thanks for understanding.
  7. Many apologies. Due to a technical issue, we lost about a weeks worth of posts and registrations. The problem has been corrected now. On the plus side the backup I had to use was before the ads. Once again apologies.
  8. Nice card. I have an ASUS ROC RTX 3080. I fired up my NOLF2 tonight to see what I have it set to. It runs on my Windows 11 Intel Core9 computer with the before mentioned card with these settings. If I try to ramp up the resolution it becomes unstable as well.
  9. Given the games age running it in 1920x1080 isn't unreasonable. What video card are you running on your computer? To answer your "disconnect" question, I'm not sure who started the revival site a couple years ago. They have never reached out to us. We've been around since 2003.
  10. Welcome to UHQ. I'd start with this version of dgvoodoo. I assume you have set Windows Compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 before launching the game?
  11. Can you try it with the only the Modernizer mod active? I know the original LivesForever used to cause issues with the single player. It's possible the same is happening to you having the LivesForeverPlus mod on.
  12. I haven't seen this behavour. I'll try to give the last chapter a go again and see if it pops up. I assume you're running the most recent version of the modernizer mod? Modernizer2 Beta 2C
  13. Glad it's sorted for you now. Keep in mind these exe files contained in the Zip files won't run on a 64-bit version of Windows. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows you will want to use the GOTY edition download instead.
  14. A little more information would be helpful to assist you with the problem you are having. Which file specifically were trying to download? How many downloads were you running at once? Which browser were you using?
  15. Doom 2 mod Divine Frequency speaks of wonderful horrors to my subconscious, delivering a demo level that smacks with the kind of cosmic horror dreamscape I'm always looking for. Creator TheNewGenghisKhan has laid out an enticing nightmare world that's threatening to give me the next hit of my drug of choice, and it seems like they're drawing from the same well of nightmare metal albums and cosmic horror that the original Doom games and later ilk draw from. I mean, let's be honest, just check out this weird spidery meat sack covered in mouths: See more It's also being appropriately vague about what the actual hell is going on here, which I profoundly appreciate because cosmic horror is never very scary when you can adequately explain what's going on: "Divine Frequency takes place in a dystopian world where dreams and reality collide. Contents of the unconscious and the external world are integrated under an emerging constant, which gives rise to anomalies throughout the landscape. You will confront the highest peak and deepest depth to reach transcendence." They're fairly easy to get up and running, if you're curious about this demo. Our friends over at TechRadar have a great guide to modding Doom to get you started. You can find Divine Frequency on ModDB. Anyway, here's a video of the creator getting jumpscare'd by their own game: View the full article
  16. At long last, you can add a free game or DLC to your Steam account without starting up the installation process for that game. I am ecstatic. I am truly, unreasonably, excited by this change. The new "Add to Library" button appears on the Steam desktop client beside free items on the storefront, including free games, Free To Play games, games that are temporarily free in a giveaway, and free DLC. No longer do you need to deal with the install dialogue or worse to get free stuff. It's a long-standing gripe of many Steam users and my personal pet peeve with the platform as a whole. I hate it. You know why? Because it prompts you to install, which means the program starts figuring out disk space and that slows down your rig, sure, yes, but if the game's already installed and you click Play Game? It launches the damn game. There are games with dozens, literally dozens, of free cosmetic DLC I've never bothered to download because I hate the idea of clicking to close the install dialogue—or worse, catching the process to stop the game from booting—a dozen or more times. Excitement about the new feature started circulating on social media after it was added in an update some time over the past few days. I don't know which Valve engineer did this, but thank you so much and you deserve a raise. You hear that, Mr. Newell? You there? More money for that person. At least a bonus. A free lunch, even. We all know you're good for it. View the full article
  17. Here's a whimsically appealing game: Soccer Story, an "adventure RPG" from Not Tonight and Not Tonight 2 developers PanicBarn and publisher No More Robots. In a world where Soccer has become illegal and everywhere to play soccer has been shut down, Soccer Story is about one person and their magical soccer ball, which has chosen them to be the Savior of Soccer. The developers call it "a physics-driven adventure RPG, where every problem can be solved with your trusty magic ball." Suitably, it'll let you drop your soccer ball and play anywhere, allowing you to figure out puzzles, solve problems, find secrets, and presumably score goals. It's a very quirky looking game, one set in a world where apparently an evil corporation can make it so people can't play sports. I don't know, I guess they have a copyright or something. The quest to restore soccer will see your team play against teams like "literal sharks, toddlers, old-age pensioners and ninjas." Soccer Story will have both a single-player campaign and a way to play against friends in local-multiplayer with a roster of teams and animal captains. Soccer Story is coming to PC in normal ways, but also to both Game Pass and Stadia. For now, you can find Soccer Story at its official website and on Steam. View the full article
  18. Hello. Squirrel with a Gun is a game that's coming to video game platform Steam, and it is about a squirrel with a gun. Not a squirrel sized gun, mind you, but like a regular person-scale weapon that it carries around and can use to rob people, solve puzzles, and apparently fight shadowy men in black-style government agents. At least that's what it does in the trailer which is embedded above but which is also on YouTube. See more What may well have started off as a joke is now, clearly, real, and indie developer Daniel DeEntremont has made a Steam page for this game and everything. It'll focus on goofy shooting and action combat, alongside exploratory puzzle-solving, amongst what appears to be a very normal suburban neighborhood. As a squirrel you can already jump quite far, but using the recoil of a firearm to propel your tiny body will enable some sick aerobatics. You'll be able to use these skills to rob the people of the neighborhood, or, if you prefer, help them with stuff and get rewarded. That's about all I can say at this point because frankly the concept here is very thin and if you're not on board already you're probably not going to suddenly get on board. You can find Squirrel with a Gun on Steam, and you can find developer Daniel DeEntremont on Twitter. I don't know if this is the next Goat Simulator or whatever but I do know that it made me laugh hard enough that I'll buy it on release just as a thank-you to a hard working indie dev. For now, Squirrel with a Gun has a release date of "Good question!" (Image credit: Daniel DeEntremont) View the full article

I can also offer you a wide range of tips as well as links to our Wordle guides too—whatever you need to help you solve your daily Wordle game, it's in here. I've discovered something more frustrating than losing a game of Wordle, and that's feeling a much better guess come to mind the exact same moment I hit the Enter key on my keyboard. Add further irritation when the thing I could've input turns out to be the right answer too. Watching those letters flip over knowing I had the answer and didn't type it out is nothing short of agony. Wordle hint Today's Wordle: A hint for Sunday, August 14 Today's answer can refer to a thick type of cotton cloth often used in military clothing, the yellowish-brown colour of that cloth, or more generally a relaxed style of everyday garments along similar lines. There's a reasonably uncommon consonant used twice in today's word, so be careful. Wordle help: 3 tips for beating Wordle every day If there's one thing better than playing Wordle, it's playing Wordle well, which is why I'm going to share a few quick tips to help set you on the path to success: A good opener contains a balanced mix of unique vowels and consonants. A tactical second guess helps to narrow down the pool of letters quickly. The solution may contain repeat letters. There's no time pressure beyond making sure it's done by midnight. So there's no reason to not treat the game like a casual newspaper crossword and come back to it later if you're coming up blank. Wordle answer (Image credit: Josh Wardle) What is the Wordle 421 answer? Everyone struggles from time to time. The answer to the August 14 (421) Wordle is KHAKI. Previous answers Wordle archive: Which words have been used The more past Wordle answers you can cram into your memory banks, the better your chances of guessing today's Wordle answer without accidentally picking a solution that's already been used. Past Wordle answers can also give you some excellent ideas for fun starting words that keep your daily puzzle solving fresh. Here are some recent Wordle solutions: August 13: HUNKYAugust 12: LABELAugust 11: GLEANAugust 10: CLINGAugust 9: PATTYAugust 8: UNFITAugust 7: SMEARAugust 6: ALIENAugust 5: BUGGYAugust 4: RHYME Learn more about Wordle Every day Wordle presents you with six rows of five boxes, and it's up to you to work out which secret five-letter word is hiding inside them. You'll want to start with a strong word like ALERT—something containing multiple vowels, common consonants, and no repeat letters. Hit Enter and the boxes will show you which letters you've got right or wrong. If a box turns ️, it means that letter isn't in the secret word at all. means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. means you've got the right letter in the right spot. You'll want your second go to compliment the first, using another "good" word to cover any common letters you missed last time while also trying to avoid any letter you now know for a fact isn't present in today's answer. After that it's just a case of using what you've learned to narrow your guesses down to the right word. You have six tries in total and can only use real words (so no filling the boxes with EEEEE to see if there's an E). Don't forget letters can repeat too (ex: BOOKS). If you need any further advice feel free to check out our Wordle tips, and if you'd like to find out which words have already been used you'll find those below. Originally, Wordle was dreamed up by software engineer Josh Wardle, as a surprise for his partner who loves word games. From there it spread to his family, and finally got released to the public. The word puzzle game has since inspired tons of games like Wordle, refocusing the daily gimmick around music or math or geography. It wasn't long before Wordle became so popular it was sold to the New York Times for seven figures. Surely it's only a matter of time before we all solely communicate in tricolor boxes.
